JNN News Update July 2, 2017

USA LAWMAKERS APPROVE MORE DEFENSE AID FOR ISRAEL: The House Appropriations Committee and the House and Senate Armed Services Committees on Thurs. 29 June 2017, advanced USA-Israel missile defense assistance and cooperation in the 2018 defense appropriations and authorizations bills. These committees provided a total of $705 million for research and development and procurement funding for the Iron Dome, David’s Sling, Arrow-2 and Arrow-3 USA-Israel cooperative missile defense systems. The funding represents a $558 million increase from President Donald Trump's budget request for these programs, and $105 million over last year’s adopted funding level. “As Israel faces dramatically rising security challenges, AIPAC urges inclusion of these vital funds in the final versions of the Fiscal Year 2018 defense authorization and appropriations bills,” an AIPAC official stated. SATELLITE IMAGE SHOWS A STAR OF DAVID SHAPE TARGETED BY AN IRANIAN MISSILE TEST: In a document shared with members of the UN Security Council, Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon revealed last week a startling photo showing that Iran recently used a Star of David (a Jewish symbol), as a target for a ballistic missile test. The Star of David was used as a target for a mid-range "Qiam" ballistic missile test in Dec. 2016. Alongside the Star of David, a round crater caused by the rocket can also be seen. "This missile test not only violates Security Council resolutions but also proves beyond doubt, once again, the true intentions of Iran to target Israel," said Danon in his message to Security Council member states. The Security Council must act immediately against this demonstration of hate and Iran's provocative violations that threaten the stability of the entire region," added Danon. Israel will test its Arrow 3 intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) defense system in the United States next year. The news comes as concerns build over Iran's continued ballistic missile tests. The Arrow 3 system is considered one of the most technologically-advanced defense systems in the world, designed to intercept incoming missiles outside of the Earth's atmosphere. (J.Post) Pray Western nations will be unified with effective solutions to prevent Iran from continuing with its violations of existing UN sanctions, its ongoing support of terrorist organizations and violent threats against the Jewish state.

NIKKI HALEY SLAMS UN SECURITY COUNCIL FOR INACTION ON IRAN: USA Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley slammed the Security Council on 29 June 2017 for failing to take any action against Iran, which she said had "repeatedly and deliberately violated" sanctions imposed by the body. "The Security Council has failed to even take minimal steps to respond to these violations," Haley told a council briefing on Iran. We must show Iran that we will not tolerate their egregious flaunting of UN resolutions." Most UN sanctions were lifted 18 months ago under a deal Iran made with key world powers to curb its nuclear program. But Iran is still subject to an arms embargo and other restrictions, which are not technically part of the nuclear agreement. (J. Post)

UN CALLS ON SYRIAN TROOPS TO WITHDRAW FROM ISRAEL BORDER: The UN Security Council on Thurs. 29 June 2017 strongly condemned the fighting in the buffer zone between Syria and Israel, calling on the Syrian government and rebel groups to withdraw from the area which is patrolled by UN peacekeepers. It came following several incidents last week in which the fighting in Syria's civil war spilled over into Israel. On Sunday 25 June 2017 several mortar shells exploded in an open area in the northern Golan Heights. Israel later retaliated by attacking two Syrian artillery pieces and an ammunition truck on the Syrian side of the northern Golan Heights. The following day, mortar fire from Syria struck Israel, sparking fires in the northern Golan Heights. And on Wed. 28 June, a mortar shell from Syria landed on the Golan Heights. The IDF retaliated for the incident, attacking a mortar site belonging to the Syrian regime from which the rocket was fired. PM Netanyahu later clarified that Israel “will not tolerate spillover” and would “respond to every firing”. (INN) It is vitally important to continue to pray for Israel’s safety and preparedness in the event of unanticipated developments or surprise attacks on Israel’s northern borders. Pressure continues to build as a result of the Syrian conflict and increasing footholds on Israel’s northern borders by entities hostile to the Jewish state – including Iran and Hezbollah.

TRUMP ADMINISTRATION SETS NEW IMMIGRATION GUIDELINE FOR INCOMING FROM 6 MUSLIM STATES: Following President Trump’s partial victory in the Supreme Court on his immigration regulations for citizens of six Muslim states, the administration has issued rules to set the policies in motion. Those seeking a new visa who are citizens of Yemen, Libya, Iran, Sudan Somalia and Syria who wish to enter the United States must prove a relationship with a close relative (brother, sister, son/daughter-in law, adult son/daughter, parent, spouse, child) already in the USA. Fiancées will not be able to bring their intendeds into the USA to join them. Businesses and academic institutions will need to present firm proof of compliance with the new guidelines, but consular officials will have discretion in extending waivers to individuals who can prove substantial contacts in America. “A HISTORY OF THE PALESTINIAN PEOPLE” LEAVES DETAILS BLANK: Amazon has removed from its site a book whose title purported to show Palestinian Arab history, culture, language and archaeological findings. Customers who bought the book "A History of the Palestinian People: From Ancient Times to the Modern Era" by Assaf A. Volt for $7.99 found themselves looking at 120 blank pages - a most striking way of making the writer's point that the Arab "Palestinian People" is a late twentieth century invention. According to the United with Israel website, the book was described on Amazon as “no doubt the most comprehensive and extensive review of some 3,000 years of Palestinian history, with emphasis on the Palestinian people’s unique contribution to the world and to humanity,” and was selling briskly until complaints convinced Amazon to remove it from the category Israel and Palestine History as well as Middle East History where it had been placed. A preview button on the Amazon site had revealed to potential buyers that there was no content. (Arutz-7)

THE COUNTERFEIT ARABS: There is no such thing as a Palestinian people; no such thing as a Palestinian history; and no Palestinian language exists. There has never been any independent, sovereign Palestinian state in all of recorded history – let alone an Arab independent state of Palestine. You will search in vain for Palestinian Arab coinage or Palestinian Arab archaeological artifacts specifically related to any Palestinian Arab king or ancient leader. But what you will find are coins, pottery, ancient scrolls, all providing conclusive, empirical and millennial evidence of Jewish civilization dotting the land known correctly as Israel – not Palestine. The present-day so-called “Palestinians” are an Arab people sharing an overwhelmingly Muslim Arab culture, ethnicity and language identical to their fellow Arabs in the Middle East and North Africa, with few if any distinctions. The modern “Palestinian Arabs” are primarily the descendants of itinerant Arabs who illegally flooded British Mandatory Palestine from Arab territories as far away as Sudan, Egypt, Syria and what was Mesopotamia (modern Iraq). They were attracted during the early decades of the 20th century by new employment opportunities provided by the Jewish pioneers, whose heroic efforts were turning the desert green again and restoring centuries of neglect that the land had endured under a succession of alien occupiers. ISRAELI HI-TECH SUITCASE AIMS TO SOLVE LOST LUGGAGE PROBLEMS: The Samsara suitcase, made of an aluminum alloy similar to materials used to make airplanes, is fireproof and comes with LED lights to see in the dark. It will notify the owner via an app if someone else opens the case, or if the luggage is moved away from the owner, within a certain preset distance. (Newsweek)

JNN News Update June 26, 2017

ISRAELI ARMY HITS SYRIAN TARGETS AFTER MORTARS HIT GOLAN HEIGHTS: Israel retaliated against Syria over the weekend after ten projectiles from Syria landed in the Golan Heights, a popular Israeli tourist destination. There were no casualties reported although the Israeli government warned both hikers and farmers to stay away from the border. In response Israel fired missiles at tanks in Syria and according to Arab media reports, killed two Syrian soldiers. Israeli PM Binyamin Netanyahu warned that Israel will not tolerate any violation of its security on any front, including what he called “drizzle” of fire.” Israeli officials are concerned about spillover from the fighting between Assad and Syrian rebel groups. In April 2017 Israel fired a Patriot anti-ballistic missile, intercepting a drone that entered Israel’s air space from Syria. (Medialine) Be prayerfully alert to events taking place in countries adverse to the Jewish state on the other side of Israel’s northern borders. This region, most immediately, includes Syria and Lebanon, out of which terrorists groups rabidly hostile to Israel and supported by Iran, operate. Pray for the Lord’s angelic shields to be along Israel’s northern borders.

REPORTS: TRUMP FURIOUS WITH PALESTINIANS, MAY PULL OUT OF PEACE PROCESS: The international mainstream media painted last week's meeting between Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas and USA President Donald Trump's senior advisor and son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as "productive." The London-based Arabic-language daily al-Hayat instead called the meeting "tense," and said it ended with a serious rift between the Americans and the Palestinians. According to Palestinian officials who spoke to the newspaper, Trump is now considering pulling out of the Mideast peace process altogether. Abbas is said to have been outraged when Kushner entered the room and conveyed Israel's demand that he stop using international financial aid to pay salaries to terrorists sitting in Israeli jails. Kushner also insisted that Palestinian officials halt all incitement against Israel, and expressed disappointment that Abbas had failed to condemn a deadly terrorist stabbing which occurred days ago in Jerusalem and took the life of a young female Border Police officer. Al-Hayat wrote that Abbas fired back by accusing Kushner of "taking Israel's side," and was adamant that paying salaries to convicted terrorists was part of his "social responsibility." (Israel Today) The single hope for peace in the Middle East is for the good news of Yeshua to penetrate through Muslim strongholds. Please pray to that end.

TRUMP’S FACE, ISRAELI FLAGS SPREAD ON CASKET IN IRAN RALLY: Millions of Iranians poured onto the streets on Friday 23 June 2017, as anti-Israel rallies got underway throughout the country, with protesters condemning the Jewish state, chanting vitriolic slurs and screaming "Death to Israel." In addition to the usual burning of Israeli and American flags, the marchers laid a casket on the street bearing images of USA President Trump's face, bordered with American flags and topped with multiple Israeli flags. Iran also displayed three surface-to-surface ballistic missiles, including the Zolfaghar—the type that Iran used this week to target ISIS in Syria. Another missile on display was the Ghadr, with a range of 1,250 miles that can reach both Israel and USA bases in the region. The anti-Israel rallies are an annual event marking Al-Quds Day, the historic Arabic name for Jerusalem. Iran doesn't recognize Israel and staunchly backs terrorist groups, including Palestinian Hamas and Lebanon’s Hezbollah. Al-Quds day rallies are held each year on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. USA ANTI-ISIS ENVOY VOWS NOT TO LET IRAN THREATEN ISRAEL FROM SYRIAN GOLAN: The USA will not let Iranian proxies threaten Israel from the Golan after ISIS-rule in Syria falls, USA envoy for combating ISIS Brett McGurk said on 22 June, 2017. Speaking at the IDC Herzliya Conference, McGurk said that he was “recently on the Golan looking at ISIS across the border” and that neither ISIS nor “Iranian proxies” can be allowed to remain to trouble Israel. The USA envoy sounded a victorious tone with a narrative of how the USA has helped put ISIS on the run in both Iraq and Syria, focused on ISIS clean-up operations. He said that the USA has undertaken “30,000 airstrikes on ISIS to date in the most precise air campaign in history.” (J.Post)

SAUDI PRINCE PROMOTED AS HEIR TO THRONE IS HARDLINER ON IRAN: In a stunning palace reshuffle with implications for Israel, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman has designated his son Muhammad Bin Salman as his successor, boosting his already formidable powers while ousting the previous crown prince, his nephew Muhammad Bin Nayef. A royal decree also appointed 31-year-old Muhammad Bin Salman, who had been the deputy crown prince and will continue to serve as the defense minister and oil minister, to the additional post of deputy prime minister, while stripping Muhammad Bin Nayef, 57, of his post as interior minister. Thirty-one of the 34 members in Saudi Arabia’s Allegiance Council, which is made up of leading figures of the ruling Saud family, backed the changes. The new crown prince is ultra-hawkish on Iran. Bin Salman's firm anti-Iranian positions make him an important partner for Israel and the USA. He also agrees with America on the need to thwart Russian influence in the region; to topple President Bashar Assad's regime in Syria; and to act firmly against ISIS and other radical organizations, from the Muslim Brotherhood to Hezbollah.. During the last two years, several Arab websites have reported that bin Salman also met with top Israelis. (J.Post/Ha’aretz)

RISING BRITISH ANTI-SEMITISM A THREAT TO JEWS EVERYWHERE: Isi Leibler is a veteran Diaspora Jewish leader and prolific commentator on Jewish and Israeli affairs. In a recent article, Leibler presented a grim picture of the predicament of Great Britain’s Jews. The threat to the well-being and safety of that community is real, and he suggests the threat may be worse than at any time since 1656 when Jews returned to that country after having been expelled in 1290. The need for Jews in the UK to hide their identity and provide armed guards for Jewish facilities and events has reached a critical point. Attacks upon Jews have been increasing, but the recent large vote in favor of the British Labour Party is really the ominous sign. The leader of that party, Jeremy Corbyn, came dangerously close to ousting PM Theresa May. He is a clear friend of Hamas and is a terrorist partisan. His surging popularity therefore suggests an imbalanced and negative attitude on the part of the British population toward Israel, and following that, hostility toward the Jewish People. Despite disclaimers by many of Israel’s enemies, anti-Israel movements, programs and policies are deeply anti-Semitic in intent, and represent a threat to Jews living outside of Israel. Imagine this: despite 69 years of sovereignty, despite thousands of years of claims to the Holy Land, Israel is still trying to “prove” its right to exist to people throughout the world. (J.Post)

UN EXCUSES WIFE-BEATING AS NATURAL REACTION TO ‘ISRAELI OCCUPATION’: First, they called terrorism a "natural reaction" to the presence of Jews in the Holy Land. Now, Palestinian men are being excused by the United Nations for taking out their frustrations with Israel on their own spouses. At a UN Human Rights Council debate this month, the director of UN Watch, Hillel Neuer, challenged a new report blaming Israel for when Palestinian husbands beat their wives. "Is it right to continue infantilizing Palestinians, such that when a man in Ramallah beats his wife, we encourage him to say ‘Israel made me do it’?" Neuer asked the report's author, Dubravka Simonovic, the UN Rapporteur on Violence against Women. Neuer further noted that while Israeli counter-terrorism measure might put pressure on the Palestinian population, that doesn't explain why violence against women is equally prevalent in the neighboring countries of Lebanon, Syria, Jordan and Egypt. Nor was there any excuse for Simonovic's lack of actual evidence to support her conclusion. But, most notably, Neuer wondered how the report could draw a dubious link between Israeli security and Palestinian spousal abuse, while ignoring entirely the regular weekly sermons by Palestinian Muslim clerics encouraging such domestic violence. (Israel Today)

NASCAR’S FIRST ISRAELI DRIVER IS AN UNLIKELY SUCCESS STORY: Israeli race car driver Alon Day’s rise to the highest ranks of NASCAR has been an unexpected one for a variety of reasons. Here’s one of them: The 25-year-old has done the bulk of his training on computer-screen simulators. That’s because Israel didn’t have a motor sport race track until this year. This week he will become the first Israeli to compete in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series - the sport’s highest league of competition - when he races the No. 23 car for the BK Racing team at the Sonoma Raceway in Southern California. Day wears his Israeli and Jewish identities proudly. His car for this week’s race will sport a few Israeli flag stickers, and he’ll also have Stars of David on the left arm of his racing suit and on his belt. Day is well aware of the unlikeliness of his story - one that involves Israeli go-karts and plenty of computer games. “I’m going to make history for myself and for my country, Israel,” the Tel Aviv resident said. Day last week won the NASCAR Whelen Euro race in England (JTA)

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS OWNER ROBERT KRAFT OPENS FIRST REGULATION-SIZED JERUSALEM FOOTBALL STADIUM: The new Kraft Family Sports Campus in Jerusalem was inaugurated this week and made possible by a $6 million donation earlier this year by New England Patriots owner and five-time National Football League (NFL) champion Robert Kraft. This will be Israel’s first regulation-sized American football field - which doubles as a soccer field - and will serve the country’s growing interest in the sport. Currently, there are 1,350 active football players in Israel, with dozens of teams across the country. As part of the campus opening, NFL Hall of Famers traveled with Kraft to Israel to promote football in the Jewish state. Among the players are Joe Greene, Joe Montana, Jim Brown, Mike Singletary, Eric Dickerson and Roger Staubach. During their stay, the group visited Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and the Dead Sea, as well as Christian sites near the Sea of Galilee - with several of the former players undergoing a baptism in the Jordan River. The NFL players also met with PM Netanyahu. (Algemeiner)

JERUSALEM AQUARIUM TO OPEN TO THE PUBLIC IN JULY: In July 2017 the first aquarium in Israel will open to the public in Jerusalem. The only land-based aquarium in the Middle East is situated in the capital’s Biblical Zoo. The aquarium complex is laid out on 5 acres at the southern end of Jerusalem. The aquarium is 7,000 square meters and has 33 tanks. The largest tank represents the Mediterranean Sea environment and holds 1.6 million liters of water. (Janglo)

BEN GURION AIRPORT INAUGURATES ITS NEW TERMINAL 1: Ben Gurion International Airport's new Terminal 1 was inaugurated this week, allowing low-cost international airlines to begin using it. Some 1.4 million passengers per year are expected to depart the terminal. Check-in security for the expected 33 flights each day will now take place in Terminal 1, instead of Terminal 3. Airlines operating out of Terminal 1 are: Arkia Airlines, Blue Bird Airways, easyJet, EL AL, Israir Airlines, Pegasus, Ryanair, Wizz Air, and more. In addition, a new airport is expected to open near Eilat, replacing the airport currently in the city's center and allowing Eilat to grow. It will be the first international airport built in Israel since 1948. (Arutz-7)

LIBERMAN: WE WILL NOT AGREE TO THE RETURN OF A SINGLE REFUGEE: Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman on Thur. 22 June 2017 spoke to participants at the Herzliya Conference, and addressed the renewal of negotiations with the PA. He emphasized that the return of refugees was a red line for Israel. “We will not agree to the return of a single refugee to ‘67 borders,” he said. “There will never be another prime minister who makes propositions to the Palestinians like Ehud Olmert did.” He noted that an agreement with the PA will not solve regional problems. “There shouldn’t be any delusions: An end to the conflict with the Palestinians will not solve the problems - it will make them worse. We must first reach a regional agreement with moderate Sunni states, and only then an agreement with the Palestinians,” he said. (Arutz-7) Right of Return: When Israel was created in 1948, Arab states and Arab Palestinians attacked the Jewish community in Palestine and the Jewish state, vowing to "drive the Jews into the sea." They lost the war however, and some 725,000 Arab Palestinians at the behest of Arab leaders voluntarily fled from the area. Palestinian Arabs claim any peace agreement with Israel must allow the descendants and families of these refugees, now numbering 6 million, to return to Israel. If Israel were to agree to this Jews would became a minority in their own state. Return of the refugees would put an end to the Jewish homeland.

IAF CHIEF: ISRAEL HAS 4-5 TIMES THE POWER THAN IN 2006 TO STRIKE HEZBOLLAH: Israel can now strike the Hezbollah terrorist group with four-to-five times the bombing power than was used in the 2006 war with Lebanon, said Israeli Air Force Maj.-Gen. Amir Eshel. The IAF commander discussed a potential future conflict between the Jewish state and its northern neighbor, saying such an aggression would largely be fought in the air. Eshel said qualitative and quantitative improvements in the air force since the 2006 Lebanon war meant it could carry out in just two or three days the same number of bombings it mounted in those 34 days of fighting. "If war breaks out in the north, we have to open with all our strength from the start," he said, pointing to the likelihood of international pressure for a quick ceasefire before Israel can achieve all its strategic goals. In addition, Eshel warned civilians in southern Lebanon to leave their homes if war with Israel breaks out, saying that "every four out of five homes has weapons hidden in them." Since the last war with Israel, the Iranian-back Lebanese terrorist group has also reportedly stockpiled more than 100,000 projectiles capable of reaching various parts of Israel. (J.Post) Intercede that Hezbollah will refrain from carrying out war-provoking acts against the Jewish state. Pray for the safety of Israel’s Northern borders. “Proclaim the power of God, whose majesty is over Israel, whose power is in the heavens,” Ps. 68:34.

DISABLED PROTESTERS BLOCK MAIN HIGHWAY NEAR AIRPORT THREATEN TO SET THEMSELVES ON FIRE: Dozens of disabled people and their supporters on Wed. 21 June 2017 used cars and wheelchairs to block the entrance to Ben Gurion Airport from the main Route 1 highway stepping up a battle to have disability benefits raised to the level of the minimum wage. In past weeks, protesters have held several demonstrations, blocking Tel Aviv thoroughfares after media reports that a government committee planned to recommend cutting a promised increase in allotments. Naomi Morbia, chairwoman of the protest movement, warned that participants would set themselves on fire. “We’ve blocked the entrance to Ben Gurion Airport and we’ve tied ourselves together in a chain. We’ve poured gasoline on ourselves and we’ll set ourselves on fire if our demands are not answered. We are fighting for our lives and demand benefits that are equal to the minimum wage,” she said.

In April 2017 after a slew of protests, including a hunger strike, Finance Minister Moshe Kahlon announced a 50% increase in monthly disability benefits for the over 200,000 Israelis who receive the financial assistance. As a result of the NIS 4 billion ($1.1 billion) he allocated, those entitled to monthly disability benefits were due to receive NIS 3,800 ($1,035) a month, up from the NIS 2,342 ($640) they currently receive, phased in over a period of five years. But in May 2017 it was decided that another committee would be established. Media reports indicated the panel would recommend cutting the monthly benefit increase from NIS 1,200 ($338) NIS 500 ($140); making the criteria for eligibility much stricter and - while maintaining the NIS 4 billion budget framework - cutting the pie differently to direct more funds into helping disabled people with costs such as rent. (Times of Israel) Intercede that the disabled people of Israel will receive much needed benefit increases to survive daily life in a country where the cost of living is 13.46% higher than in the USA. Pray that that the second committee established to reduced the promised minimal decrease will be dissolved as it will only increase already snarled levels of bureaucracy and delay any benefits to the disabled. May these needy people receive much needed, promised increases deposited directly into their accounts monthly.

WORLD’S DEMOCRACIES ABSENT AT ANNUAL ISRAEL-BASHING DEBATE: The world’s democracies collectively snubbed the UN Human Rights Council’s annual condemnation of Israel in Geneva on 19 June 2017 when none of their representatives attended the council’s presentation and debate on “Item 7” - a permanent agenda item focused on the “Human rights situation in Palestine and other occupied Arab territories.” The seats of all the democratic nations represented on the council were empty for the duration of the discussion, sparking protests from Arab countries. In an address to the council on 6 June 2017, USA Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley charged that “Item 7 is a scandalous provision that must be removed.” Hillel Neuer - executive director of the Geneva-based UN Watch NGO said, “The democracies are absent to protest prejudice - because this is the only agenda item that singles out one specific state, the Jewish state. Not Syria, Sudan or North Korea is treated this way.” Nonetheless, the absence of these countries did not prevent routine denunciations of Israel, with serial human rights abusers like Syria, Lebanon and Venezuela attacking Israel’s human rights record and depicting it as the “greatest threat to peace in the Middle East.” (Algemeiner) Continue to pray that UN anti-Israel bias will be confronted and overcome in all UN branches.

NETANYAHU: “I HAVE ONE MESSAGE TO IRAN: DO NOT THREATEN ISRAEL”: Iran on Sunday 18 June 2017 fired missiles from the western part of the country into eastern Syria targeting what it called “terrorist bases” in Deir Ez-Zor. The attack was in retaliation for combined attacks in Iran earlier this month in which 17 people were killed. The USA and Saudi Arabia were specifically mentioned by an Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps spokesman as part of its audience for the “message” it sent by firing the missiles. Israel, although not explicitly mentioned, has been the focus of constant threats by Iran. After Iran launched six missiles into Syria, an adviser to the Iranian foreign minister, Sheikh Hussein al-Islam, said that Israel “is the main enemy” of Iran and that Israel should be worried.” Israeli PM Netanyahu responded sharply saying “I have a message to Iran: Do not threaten Israel. The army and our security forces are constantly monitoring the activity of Iran in the region.” Netanyahu further said the activity also includes “Iran’s attempts to establish themselves in Syria and, of course, to transfer advanced weapons to Hezbollah and other operations." Israel’s Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said Israel was not worried by Sunday's strike. "We are prepared for every development," he said’. (Media Line/Arutz-7/J.Post)

REPORT: ONLY 1 OUT OF 7 IRANIAN MISSILES REACHED ITS TARGET: Only one out of the seven missiles which Iran fired at ISIS targets in Syria on 18 June 2017 reached its target, Israel’s Channel 2 reported. “Iran is trying to play at being a great power,” explained Middle East analyst Ehud Ya’ari. “There was no operational need” to attack ISIS from within Iranian territory." According to a website of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, the surface-to-surface missiles hit ISIS targets in the Deir Ez-Zour district in Syria. According to Ya'ari, three of the seven missiles did not even reach Syrian territory, and instead landed in neighboring Iraq. One missile managed to strike within a few hundred meters of its target, but still missed. A fifth missile landed in the Deir Ez-zor region, which was far from the ISIS position it had been intended for. The location where the sixth missile struck is unknown. (Arutz-7)

NETANYAHU TO ABBAS: STOP POISONING PALESTINIAN YOUTH: PM Netanyahu on 19 June 2017 blasted Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas for his continued incitement against Israel. In a series of tweets, Netanyhau condemned the PA for naming – not for the first time – a public square after a terrorist. This time, the PA named a square in Jenin after arch-terrorist Khaled Nazzal. Nazzal was responsible for planning the 1974 Ma'alot massacre, in which terrorists entered a school in the northern town of Ma'alot and took dozens of children and teachers hostage. 22 children and four adults were murdered in the attack. “Palestinian President Abbas tells the world that he educates Palestinian children for peace. That’s a lie,” tweeted Netanyahu. “President Abbas: stop poisoning the minds of Palestinian youth. Educate for peace, not terror." Naming a square after Nazzal is just another example of ongoing PA incitement to terrorism against Israel. The PA regularly names schools, public squares and community centers after terrorists who murdered Israeli citizens. (INN) How grave is the tragic truth that Palestinians are destroying the souls of their own society and especially children. They do so by furthering media and school text book incitement against Israel, and promoting the hero worship of terrorist from the cradle on. Pray against the sacrifice of Palestinian children to jihadist hatred and murder.

GROUND BROKEN FOR FIRST NEW JUDEA & SAMARIA SETTLEMENT IN 25 YEARS: PM Netanyahu announced 20 June 2017 that ground had been broken for the construction of the first Israeli Judea & Samaria settlement in 25 years. The new community, to be known as Amichai, is to accommodate residents of the Amona outpost, which was evacuated in Feb. 2017 in line with court orders because it was built on private Palestinian land. “Today, ground works began, as I promised, for the establishment of the new community for the residents of Amona,” the prime minister tweeted. “After decades, I have the privilege to be the prime minister who is building a new community in Judea and Samaria.” Judea & Samaria is the biblical term for the area also known as the West Bank, which was among the territories conquered by Israel during the 1967 Six Day War. (Times of Israel)

ISRAELI PRIME MINISTER: WE DON’T INTERVENE IN SYRIA WAR, BUT WE DO GIVE HUMANITARIAN AID TO CHILDREN: Israeli PM Netanyahu appeared to pour cold water on a media report, Mon. 19 June 2017 that the Jewish state has been secretly providing rebel groups in southern Syria with money, fuel, food and medical supplies in recent years. “We do not intervene in this terrible, bloody conflict, but we do provide humanitarian assistance to boys and girls,” Netanyahu said during a visit to a medical center in Safed, where more than 2,000 Syrians wounded in the ongoing war have received treatment. “I see men, women and children who viewed us as enemies when they arrived here,” he continued. “They now understand that the State of Israel is a moral stronghold and a ray of light in our region.” (Algemeiner)

LAWSUIT AGAINST SAN FRANCISCO STATE UNIVERSITY FOR FOSTERING ANTI-SEMITISM ON CAMPUS: A group of students filed a lawsuit on 19 June, 2017 against San Francisco State University, alleging that the school fostered a climate of anti-Semitism "marked by violent threats to the safety of Jewish students on campus." The suit claims the school violated the plaintiffs' constitutional rights to free speech and equal protection. "I didn't have the right to speak on my own campus; I felt afraid as a Jewish student," said Jacob Mandel, a recent graduate. He said "the administration was actively working against me.” “There is a tactic to silence people with who extreme members of society don't agree," said Amanda Berman, director of legal affairs with the Lawfare Project. "There's a sense people don't have a right to speak if certain communities don't want that message to get out." (Washington Post)Continue to intercede that university groups, teachers, leaders and individuals who promote and participate in campus anti-Semitic activities against Israel will be confronted, penalized and silenced.

GOOGLE: WE HAVEN’T DONE ENOUGH TO STOP TERRORISM: Google admitted this week that it was not doing enough to fight online terrorism, pledging to take steps to do more. Walker listed four steps that Google and YouTube would be taking in order to fight against terror. These include an increase in the use of technology to help identify terrorism-related videos, an increase in the number of independent experts in YouTube’s Trusted Flagger program, a tougher stance on videos that may not clearly violate policies but that contain inflammatory religious or supremacist content, and a move by YouTube to expand its role in counter-radicalization efforts. “We have also recently committed to working with industry colleagues-including Facebook, Microsoft, and Twitter-to establish an international forum to share and develop technology and accelerate our joint efforts to tackle terrorism online,” added Walker. Israel’s Internal Security Minister Gilad Erdan welcomed Google’s announcement. “Well done Google. Facebook and Twitter must also act - in order to prevent the next attack," added Erdan. (INN)

BBC’s SHAMEFUL HEADLINE: BBC REPORTS JERUSALEM TERROR ATTACK AS ‘THREE PALESTINIANS KILLED,’ TRUMP’S SON STANDS UP FOR THE TRUTH: "Three Palestinians killed after deadly stabbing in Jerusalem," BBC tweeted on Friday night 16 June 2017, following the combination stabbing-shooting attacks which killed one Israeli policewoman and injured four others. On Friday evening, three terrorists carried out two attacks 100 meters apart. In one of those attacks, 23-year-old Border Police officer Hadas Malka was stabbed to death. In the other attack, the terrorists were eliminated before they managed to kill anyone. USA President Donald Trump's son Donald Trump Jr. wrote, "You mean after they stabbed a female Israeli police officer to death… right? This is as close to being misleading as possible. Need a new term for this nonsense. Sort of the opposite of victim blaming. How about Culprit Coddling? Maybe Criminal Cozying? Thoughts???" BBC's tweet included a link to an article whose title was changed to "Israeli policewoman stabbed to death in Jerusalem." The original article focused on the Arabs' deaths, and began by claiming that, "Israeli police have shot dead three Palestinians after a deadly knife attack outside the Old City of Jerusalem, in which a policewoman died." Israel's Foreign Ministry and the Israeli Embassy harshly criticized BBC. PM Binyamin Netanyahu on 18 June 2017 thanked President Donald Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., for calling out the BBC over its shameful headline. (Arutz-7)

ISRAELI OFFICIAL ON BBC HEADLINE: ‘THESE MISTAKES HAPPEN WAY TOO OFTEN': While acknowledging the BBC's clarification of a badly misleading headline about the weekend terrorist attacks in Jerusalem, Foreign Ministry director-general Yuval Rotem warned BBC consumers to be aware, because these mistakes happen “way too often.” Following an outcry from everyone from the Foreign Ministry to USA President Donald Trump's son over an initial headline on Friday 16 June 2017 that read, “Three Palestinians killed after deadly stabbing in Jerusalem,” the news organization changed the headline to, “Israeli police woman stabbed to death in Jerusalem.” Rotem retweeted a tweet from the spokesman at the Israeli embassy that displayed the apology, and wrote this comment: “BBC World admits mistake, but such mistakes happen way too often. BBC consumers beware.”

Israel and its supporters have long complained about biased and misleading headlines on stories in the press abroad about terrorist attacks in Israel. For instance, in the attack at the Damascus Gate in Feb. 2016 that killed Hadar Cohen, the headline on the initial CBS story was “3 Palestinians killed as daily violence grinds on.” About 90 minutes later, and after numerous complaints, that headline was changed to this: “Israeli police kill 3 alleged Palestinian attackers.” And after further protests, it was again changed to “Palestinians kill Israeli officer, wound another before being killed.” And after last year's attack at the Sarona market in Tel Aviv that killed four people, CNN ran the following headline: “Two ‘Terrorists’ Captured,” putting the word terrorists in quotation marks. It later apologized, saying putting terrorists in quotation marks was “a mistake.” (Jerusalem Post) In the words of one blogger: “If they didn't flagrantly mislead they wouldn't have to be called out.” Pray against misleading media presentations against Israel that further bias and terrorism against the Jewish state.

NETANYAHU DEMANDS WORLD CONDEMNATION OF JERUSALEM ATTACK: PM Netanyahu on Saturday 17 June 2017, called for the Palestinian Authority (PA) as well as the whole world to publicly speak out against Friday night's terror attack that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old border policewoman. The premier said that he demands that the PA condemn the attack and "expects the rest of the world to do the same." Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman also condemned Palestinian leadership for what he described as their "thundering silence" following the Jerusalem attack. "The thundering silence that refuses to condemn terror coming from the Palestinian Authority, and Fatah's message that Israel murdered three innocent men, both prove there is no partner for peace on the other side."

UN Special Coordinator for Middle East Peace Nickolay Mladenov likewise condemned the attack and expressed his bewilderment at Hamas' glorification of the assailants. "I am appalled that once again some find it appropriate to justify such attacks as 'heroic.' They are unacceptable and seek to drag everyone into a new cycle of violence," he added. Immediately following the attack, ISIS took responsibility for it in an unprecedented move, warning Israel that the assault "will not be the last." However, Hamas, the terror organization ruling in the Gaza Strip, as well as the People's Front for the Liberation of Palestine, also claimed that they were behind the attack. All three attackers were glorified and honored in multiple social media channels overnight. (Jerusalem Post)

‘HADAS FOUGHT THE TERRORIST': Border Police Master Sergeant Hadas Malka was killed in a combined shooting-stabbing terror attack in Jerusalem on Friday 16 June 2017. Describing the events, the Jerusalem Division chief said, "One attack was carried out at Zedekiah's Cave. Two terrorists, one with a knife and one with an automatic weapon, attempted to harm police officers. The officers responded by firing their weapons and killing the terrorists on the spot. "About 100 meters from there, a third terrorist stabbed a policewoman, critically wounding her. The terrorist was shot on the spot by other policemen in the area. "The injured policewoman fought for a few seconds with the terrorist who stabbed her, and tried to draw her weapon. The other officers realized what was happened and shot the terrorist, who later died." Malka was 23 and lived in the village of Givat Azar near Ashdod, located in southern Israel. She served as a border guard during her army service, and joined the Border Police fifteen months ago as a career officer and commander. She leaves behind her parents, three sisters, and two brothers. (INN) Pray for the grieving family and friends of Hadas Malka in yet another brutal Palestinian terrorist attack.

FATAH BLASTS ISRAEL FOR ‘EXECUTING’ TERRORISTS: Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas’ Fatah on Friday night 16 June blasted Israel for killing the three terrorists who carried out the combined shooting and stabbing attack in the Old City of Jerusalem. Despite being touted as a “peace partner” for Israel, Fatah did not condemn the attack, rather referred to the killing of the three as an “execution” and described it as a “war crime.” Abbas has regularly refused to condemn terrorist attacks against Israelis and, in fact, has been directly involved in inciting terror. Abbas blessed every drop of blood shed in Jerusalem "for Allah" and called to stop "filthy" Jews from visiting the Temple Mount. The PA chairman has also ordered full military funerals be held for terrorists. (Arutz-7)

NETANYAHU CALLS FOR NEW SECURITY MEASURES IN JERUSALEM’S OLD CITY: Israel’s PM Netanyahu said following the terrorist assault on 16 June 2017, which was the latest in a wave of lethal attacks to have struck the Old City of Jerusalem, new security measures should be introduced in the capital. The Prime Minister’s Office stated that Netanyahu instructed the police to look into the possibility of turning the Damascus Gate into a "sterile zone." Calling for a security crackdown on the area, Netanyahu suggested that the gate, which serves as one of the main entrances into the Old City, be closed off. According to this strategy, any individual who would want to enter through the gate would have to go through a security checkup. He also said that metal detectors should be installed at the gate to prevent assailants, carrying improvised weapons and knives, from entering into the Old City and carrying out attacks. The area of the Damascus Gate has been repeatedly targeted by terrorists. (J.Post/INN)

ISRAEL GOODWILL RAMADAN EFFORTS CUT AFTER PALESTINIAN ATTACK: Israel on Sunday 18 June 2017, revoked the permits of 200,000 Palestinians to enter Israel that were approved for the Muslim holy month of Ramadan following two near simultaneous Palestinian attacks on police that killed a young female officer near Jerusalem's Old City. Israeli defense body COGAT, posted the announcement on its Arabic language Facebook page. Earlier, PM Netanyahu said that preparations are underway to destroy the homes of the Palestinian attackers and tighten security at the entrance to the Old City, home to sensitive holy sites sacred to Jews, Muslims and Christians. (Fox)

‘WE WILL GO TO ICC TO PROTECT PAYMENTS TO TERRORISTS’: The Palestinian Authority will take Israel to the International Criminal Court over recent steps to punish the PA for its continuing payments to terrorists in Israeli prisons and to the families of terrorists. Saleh Rafat, a member of the Executive Committee of the PLO, said last week that the approval of a bill to deduct sums equal to the stipends the Palestinian Authority pays to terrorists in Israeli prisons and payments made to terrorists' families, deducting them from the tax funds which Israel transfers to the PA was “unacceptable”. The bill was days ago approved by the Ministerial Committee for Legislation. Rafat accused Israel of "piracy" and "stealing" the PA's money. He also threatened that the PA would turn to the ICC if Israel does not turn over the full tax revenues, and defended the payments as going to "victims of the occupation." The PA pays monthly salaries to thousands of terrorists in Israeli prisons. The longer the sentence the terrorist serves, the more money he or she receives on a monthly basis, effectively creating a situation where the more people a terrorist murders, the more money the PA pays him. (INN) Continue to intercede that this contemptible practice of paying terrorist murders a salary and their families benefits will be blocked on all fronts, both local and international.

USA CLAIMS, PALESTINIANS VOW TO CONTINUE TO PAY TERRORISTS’ FAMILIES: Palestinian officials have denied USA Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's claim that they will stop financial support for the families of convicted Palestinian terrorists. Issa Karaka, head of prisoner affairs for the Palestinian Authority, said that no such decision could ever possibly be made, since it would spell the end of the PA with the Palestinian public. "Almost every other household among the Palestinian people is the family of a prisoner or martyr," Karaka said. Tillerson had said 13 June 2017 the PA has changed its policy of paying families of convicted terrorists and intends to stop supporting them, as a result of pressure from the Trump administration. Israel rejected Tillerson's claims. "We are not aware of any change in the Palestinian Authority's policy," said a senior Israeli official. "The Palestinian Authority continues to praise, incite to and encourage terror through financial support," the official added. (Ha’aretz) This is certainly a matter which calls for ongoing spiritual wrestling and intercession until this abominable use of foreign aid money is defeated.

ISRAEL REDUCES POWER SUPPLY TO GAZA, AS ABBAS PRESSURES HAMAS: The Palestinian Authority has told Israel that it would only pay NIS 25 million of its NIS 40 million per-month electricity bill, explaining that Hamas could pay the remainder with tax fees it collects. Israel’s Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman said 14 June 2017 that Hamas has the funds to pay the electricity bill, but is diverting that money into a military buildup, particularly the construction of tunnels that it plans to use to attack Israel. Hamas collects hundreds of millions of shekels in tax fees from Gaza residents and in addition receives millions more from Iran and other extremists groups. The cabinet decided that it was “crazy” to take Israeli tax payers' money to pay for Gaza electricity, when Hamas refuses to do so, Liberman said. (J.Post)

USA PLACES ONUS ON HAMAS TERRORIST GROUP FOR GAZA CRISIS: USA State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert said this week, “We do remain deeply concerned about the humanitarian situation in Gaza. We continue to underscore the need for international support for Gaza’s recovery and assistance to the Palestinian people,” she said. “But no one should lose sight of the fact, of this fact, that Hamas bears the greatest responsibility for the current situation in Gaza,” Nauert added. She did not comment on Israel’s decision to cede to the Palestinian Authority’s request to reduce the electricity its supplies to Gaza. (J.Post)

CYPRUS & GREECE TO WORK WITH ISRAEL ON COMMUNICATIONS, ENERGY: Israeli PM Netanyahu departed 14 June 2017 for Greece for meetings with leaders there, and for the third trilateral summit between the leaders of Israel, Greece, and Cyprus. Netanyahu will meet with Greek PM Alexis Tsipras, and with Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades. The three will hold a trilateral meeting after which they will issue a joint statement. Agreements will include cooperation in the fields of energy, communications, environmental protection, innovation and scientific research. There will also be an Israel-Greece-Cyprus meeting between the heads of government, focusing on "economic growth through innovation and initiatives." The goal of the inter-governmental consultations is to continue strengthening the developing strategic cooperation between the three countries and to hold discussions on regional and strategic issues. During the visit, a plaque marking the construction of Thessaloniki's future Holocaust Museum will be unveiled. (INN) Pray that mutual co-operation between Israel, Greece, and Cyprus will further the good image of the Jewish State and help to combat record-high levels of anti-Semitism in Greece. A recent study confirmed Greece has rates of anti-Semitism in Europe matching those recorded in countries that neighbor Israel rather than ones in the EU.

NAZI OBJECTS FROM WWII UNCOVERED IN ARGENTINA: Argentinean federal police have discovered original Nazi objects from World War II, including tools for Nazi medical experiments. The objects were found in a hidden room of a house located in the northern part of greater Buenos Aires. The objects are now in the custody of the justice who is tasked with investigating the find. Argentine Security Minister Patricia Bullrich on 13 June 2017 defined it as: “the biggest seizure of archeological objects and Nazi pieces of our history.” Argentina was a refugee for Nazis after World War II. Adolf Eichmann was captured in the northern area of Buenos Aires in 1960. Nazis war criminals Joseph Mengele and Erich Priebke also choose Argentina as a refuge. (Arutz-7)

ISRAEL TO BUILD ITS FIRST ‘DARK MATTER’ DETECTOR: An advanced detector of “dark matter” – thought to be one of the basic components of the universe and five-fold more abundant than ordinary matter – will be built and operated by Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. Although dark matter has yet to be detected, several astronomical measurements have corroborated its existence, leading to an international effort to observe it directly. The detector will be based on the theory that some types of dark matter produce a signal imitating a magnetic field and may therefore be detectable by extremely sensitive magnetic sensors. Experts in the fields of atomic spectroscopy, magnetic sensors, lasers and optics, atomic clocks and advanced electronics will cooperate on the effort. Astronomical observations have brought the scientific community to the conclusion that a very large portion of the mass in the universe does not emit light and is therefore invisible to our telescopes. This has led to the dark matter paradigm. The essence of this project is to find new methods to detect this material. (J.Post)

FINAL PREPARATIONS AT THE ROSH TZIPPOR BIRDWATCHING CENTER: June 2017 saw the opening of the Rosh Tzippor or Bird Head bird watching Center in Tel Aviv. The avian observatory is in the Yarkon Park in the heart of the Tel Aviv metropolis, and sprawls over some 8 acres of trees, greenery and wetland. The site was once home to a rich variety of vegetation, birds and other wildlife. Environmentalists say it has great potential to be rejuvenated to its former state. Ecologist Liav Shalev explained that the Center was built in a way to facilitate the attraction of birds naturally. “The park was designed so that the different bird species will be able to find the spots that suit them. There is ample food and places for shelter. We will not introduce birds artificially, but we have spread out an “invitation” for them to come.” (J.Post) “It is a land the Lord your God cares for; the eyes of the Lord your God are continually on it from the beginning of the year to its end,” Deut. 11:12

HAMAS TERRORIST TUNNEL DISCOVERED UNDER A SCHOOL RUN BY UNRWA IN THE GAZA STRIP: A Hamas terrorist tunnel was discovered under a school in Gaza run by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine (UNRWA), Israeli media reported on Friday 9 June 2017. The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories, Maj. Gen. Yoav Mordechai, confirmed the discovery of the tunnel in a post on his Facebook page in Arabic. “The tunnel was discovered underneath a school for boys in Al-Maazi. It is clear that the entire Arab world understands that it is the Hamas terror organization that destroys Gaza and eliminates any chance of a good future for Gazans,” wrote Mordechai. Digging a tunnel underneath a building used as a school is nothing new for Hamas, which regularly uses civilians as human shields and hides rocket launchers in places such as schools and soccer fields. During Israel’s 2014 counterterrorism Operation Protective Edge, Hamas rockets were discovered inside an UNRWA school building. Likewise, a booby-trapped UNRWA clinic was detonated, killing three IDF soldiers. Aside from the massive amounts of explosives hidden in the walls of the clinic, it was revealed that it stood on top of dozens of terror tunnels, showing how UNRWA is closely embedded with Hamas. (Arutz-7)

UNRWA: A BRIEF REVIEW: The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), with its $1.3 billion budget (30% of which comes from USA taxpayers), actually perpetuates the refugee problem it was created to solve, while promoting Palestinian rejectionism and Jew hatred. The original 700,000 Palestinians leaving Israel have now been magically transformed into over 5.6 million "refugees" registered with UNRWA, about half of all the Palestinians living in the world today. The "temporary" UN agency has developed into a bloated bureaucracy with a staff of 30,000, almost all of who are Palestinians (many are activists of Hamas, the Islamist terrorist group). Less than 5% of UNRWA's clients ever lived in Israel, but the agency's regulations state that all descendants of the original displaced persons shall retain their refugee rights in perpetuity. (JNN)

ISRAEL PROTESTS TO UN AFTER HAMAS TUNNEL FOUND UNDER UNRWA SCHOOL IN GAZA: Israel has protested to the United Nations Security Council after a terror tunnel was discovered under a UN-run schools in the Gaza Strip this month, appealing to the world body to condemn Hamas and prevent its facilities being exploited by the terror group, the Foreign Ministry said Saturday 10 June 2017. Israel’s Ambassador to the United Nations Danny Danon submitted the letter of protest to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the UN Security Council. “The latest finding verifies once again that Hamas’s cruelty knows no limits, including endangering centers of learning and education, and using children as human shields,” Danon wrote. “I call on the Security Council to strongly and unequivocally condemn Hamas and its repeated abuse of civilian infrastructure, and designate this group as a terrorist organization,” Danon continued. (Times of Israel)

NIKKI HALEY AT YAD VASHEM: 'WE MUST ALWAYS CHOOSE A SIDE': USA Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley visited Yad Vashem on Friday 9 June 2017 during the third and final day of her Israel visit. Haley toured the vast Holocaust museum in Jerusalem and participated in a memorial ceremony in the museum's Hall of Remembrance. Signing the Yad Vashem guest book, she wrote that "we must always honor and remember the lives lost during one of the most horrible times in history. There is a lesson here. Leadership is not about power. Leadership is the acknowledgment and value of human dignity. We must always choose a side." Her visit was closed to the media, but the USA Embassy posted a short video of the trip, including shots of Haley standing in the tunnel Hamas had dug from Gaza into Israel. In Kibbutz Nahal Oz, she spoke with residents about their experience of living under fire from Gaza, asking mothers there how it is to live in the shadows of the missiles. The American diplomat then flew north, first for security briefings along the Lebanese border where she received a security briefing and spoke to female IDF soldiers responsible for monitoring developments on the border. TRUMP ADMINISTRATION: NO CONDEMNATION OF SETTLEMENT CONSTRUCTION: The Trump administration refrained from condemning Israel’s approval for 2,600 new housing units in Judea & Samaria last week, signaling a significant policy shift in Washington. While every administration over the past half a century, from Lyndon Johnson through Barack Obama, has chastised Israel for the construction of much needed civilian housing units in Judea & Samaria, the Trump White House made no comment as the first housing permits issued since the 20 January 2017 inauguration were approved. EGYPTIAN BILLIONAIRE: BUSINESSES SHOULD CUT TIES WITH QATAR: Egyptian billionaire investor Naguib Sawiris on Friday 9 June 2017 discussed why Arab investors should pull their money out of the oil rich country of Qatar. “I’m not just advising them to take their money out of Qatar, I’m advising them not to deal with Qatar. All intelligence services of the world have all material showing that they [Qatar] are supporting all the terrorists and extremist groups in the Middle East, from Libya, in Syria, in Iraq and everywhere,” he stated. Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Yemen have all cut their ties with Qatar, but Sawiris explained why countries aren’t being more proactive in dealing with Qatar. “Nobody is doing anything because they are the richest country in the world because of their oil situation,” he stated. "They have blood on their hands. Why is Qatar the only country in the world that no single incident of terrorism happened there?,” he said. Likewise, on Friday, USA President Trump accused Doha of "historically" being a funder of terrorism. Trump alleged that Qatar was funding terrorism at the "highest level." (Fox/Arutz-7)

AUSTRIA TO BAN BURQAS STARTING OCTOBER: New Austrian legislation came into force on Friday 9 June 2017 that will ban the full-face Islamic veil in public places starting 1 Oct. 2017. People who break the new law could be fined up to 150 euros. Other measures include a clampdown on distributing extremist material, and immigrants being obliged to sign an “integration contract”. A 12-month “integration program” will include courses in “values” and the German language. (Times of Israel)

GOVERNMENT TO FURTHER AID HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS WITH NURSING, HOUSING: The ministerial team entrusted with addressing the issue of Holocaust survivors' rights passed a series of decisions Thurs. 8 June 2017 that will make it easier for them to realize those rights. Primarily, survivors will no longer have to fill out an application form for additional nursing hours. Second, it was decided that Holocaust survivors waiting for public housing would be promoted to the top of the queue for apartment allocation. Third, the process of filling out forms for organizations dealing with Holocaust commemoration will be made easier. The Accountant General will be tasked with formulating guidelines for easing the bureaucracy with which non-profit organization are contending, to help better utilize donations. (Ynet) Pray that government words and resolves will be quickly put into action as many of Israel’s needy Holocaust survivors are nearing the end of the lives, do not speak the Hebrew language fluently, or know their rights. Most Holocaust survivors are not equipped to deal with Israel’s many layered bureaucratic processes.

HEBREW U. PLACES IN 99TH PERCENTILE OF WORLD UNIVERSITIES: The Hebrew University of Jerusalem has maintained its #1 position in Israel in the new 2018 QS World University Rankings, rising 3 spots from 148 last year to #145 globally today. The rankings place the Hebrew University among the top 15% of the 980 higher education institutions surveyed by QS, and among the top 1% of the more than 26,000 universities in the world. Prof. Menahem Ben-Sasson, President of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said: "This ranking is a well-deserved recognition of the Hebrew University’s international leadership in academics and research. In recent years the university’s administration has made intense efforts to attract the best students, teachers and researchers, and to equip them with the best tools to succeed. In turn, our faculty and students have made world-class contributions in diverse fields, ranging from the arts and humanities to the basic and applied sciences.” To compile the 2018 rankings, QS analyzed over 75 million citations from more than 12 million papers, and 115,000 survey responses from employers and academics, and considered more than 4,000 universities before evaluating 980 of them. FIRST WAVE OF ETHIOPIAN JEWS ARRIVE IN ISRAEL SINCE SPECIAL ALIYAH PROGRAM’S RENEWAL: Seventy-two new Jewish immigrants from Ethiopia arrived at Ben-Gurion International Airport on Tues. 6 June 2017, a first since the Israeli government renewed the Ethiopian aliyah program in Oct. 2016. More than 200 families and supporters greeted the new immigrants at the airport, with three more such flights expected to arrive this month. Some 9,000 Jews still reside in Ethiopia and are awaiting Israeli government approval to make aliyah. Also on Tuesday, Israeli PM Netanyahu welcomed Ethiopian PM Hailemariam Desalegn and his wife to the Prime Minister’s Office in Jerusalem. “The Ethiopian community, Mr. Prime Minister, is a human bridge between our two nations,” Netanyahu said at the meeting. (Algemeiner) Pray for Israel’s new Ethiopian arrivals to settle quickly into a new country and culture. Pray for welcome, provision, ability to learn Hebrew, and good jobs.

ISRAEL SPEARHEADS THREAT OF MASS EXODUS FROM UN RIGHTS COUNCIL: Israel is spearheading a move that could see multiple members exit the United Nations Human Rights Council unless it relinquishes its anti-Israel bias. Israel is a fixed item on the agenda of the 47-member body, set up in 2006, and it has passed over 70 resolutions against the Jewish state. Israel is demanding that the UNHRC cancel its annual session that focuses solely on alleged human rights violations committed by Israel against the Palestinians. Another demand is that the council cancel the committee tasked with maintaining a database of companies doing business beyond the Green Line. Israeli Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said on 6 June 2017 that "the time is right for a major change in the UN, mainly over the new administration in the USA." He also credited USA Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley for "working tirelessly" to change the "aggressive and unjustified anti-Israel bias in the UN." The Trump administration this week gave formal notice that it was reviewing its participation in the Human Rights Council and called for reforming the body to eliminate what it called its "chronic anti-Israel bias." Washington says the council is heavily stacked with opponents of Israel. (Israel Hayom)

PA: ‘PALESTINE’ WILL BE FREE OF ‘SETTLERS’: Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas' spokesman on 7 June 2017 criticized PM Netanyahu for saying that Israel would strengthen the settlement enterprise in Judea and Samaria. Nabil Abu Rudeineh, said that Netanyahu's remarks convey a message to the international community that Israel continues to place obstacles and destroy opportunities to renew the peace process. "The failure of the international community to recognize the [so-called] Israeli occupation of the West Bank, [Judea & Samaria] including East Jerusalem, proves that the Palestinian problem is strong, however the Palestinians are determined to establish their independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital that will be empty of settlers [Jews].” Abu Rudeineh's remarks are a reflection of a policy that has continuously been stressed by Abbas and his associates, and which vows that a future Palestinian state will be free of Jews. Netanyahu has said that the PA leadership’s demand that a Palestinian state be free of Jews is ethnic cleansing and the concept of ethnic cleansing for peace is absurd. (INN) Meanwhile, Israeli Arabs are citizens of the Jewish state with equal rights. In 1948, Israel's Declaration of Independence invited Arab inhabitants of Israel to "participate in the up-building of the State on the basis of full and equal citizenship and due representation in all its provisional and permanent institutions." Additionally, Israel remains the one nation in the Middle East where all women enjoy full equality and personal freedoms, including the right to vote and be elected to local and national office.

ALAN DERSHOWITZ: A NEW TOLERANCE FOR ANTI-SEMITISM: All over the world anti-Semites are becoming mainstreamed. It is no longer disqualifying to be outed as a Jew-hater. This is especially so if the anti-Semite uses the cover of rabid hatred for the nation-state of the Jewish people. These bigots succeed in becoming accepted - even praised - not because of their anti-Semitism, but despite it. Increasingly, they are given a pass on their Jew-hatred because those who support them admire or share other aspects of what they represent. This implicit tolerance of anti-Semitism - as long as it comes from someone whose other views are acceptable - represents a dangerous new trend from both the Right and Left. In the United States, the bigotry of the hard-left is far more prevalent and influential on many university campuses. Those on the Left who support left-wing anti-Semites try to downplay, ignore or deny that those they support are really anti-Semites. “They are anti-Zionist” is the excuse. Those on the Right do essentially the same, saying, “They are nationalists.” Neither side would accept such transparent and hollow justifications if the shoe were on the other foot. Meanwhile, on university campuses the absurd concept of “intersectionality” - which has become a code word for anti-Semitism - is dominating discussions and actions by the hard-left. The warm embrace of Palestinian-American activist Linda Sarsour, who recently delivered the commencement address at a City University of New York graduation, is a case in point.

Since co-organizing the Women’s March on Washington in January 2017 Sarsour has become a feminist icon for so called “progressives.” This is the same Linda Sarsour who has said that feminism and Zionism are incompatible, stating: “You either stand up for the rights of all women, including Palestinians, or none. And when speaking about two leading female anti-Islamists, Brigitte Gabriel and Ayaan Hirsi Ali (who is a victim of female genital mutilation), the feminist de jure, Linda Sarsour, said: “I wish I could take away their vaginas.” The irony is palpable. Under her own all-or-nothing criteria, Sarsour - who is also a staunch BDS supporter - cannot be pro-Palestinian and a feminist because the Palestinian Authority and Hamas subjugate women. When asked recently about the hullabaloo surrounding her CUNY address, Linda Sarsour played the victim card, saying, “Since the Women’s March on Washington, once the right-wing saw a very prominent Muslim-American woman in a hijab who was a Palestinian who was resonating with a community in a very large way, they made it their mission to do everything they can to take my platform away.” No, Ms. Sarsour. You are wrong. This is not a smear campaign by the “right-wing,” but rather, a show that people of goodwill reject your manifestations of bigotry. Alan M. Dershowitz is the Felix Frankfurter Professor of Law, Emeritus, at Harvard Law School (Gatestone Institute). Pray that politicians, NGOs, university groups and leaders who promote anti-Semitism and anti-Semitic delegitimization campaigns against Israel will be confronted and silenced.

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA REPORTS RELIGIOUS DISCRIMINATION BEHIND MOST ON-CAMPUS INCIDENTS IN PAST YEAR: The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities (UMN) reported in last month that religious discrimination was behind a plurality of on-campus “bias incidents” over the past year, with nine anti-Semitic incidents occurring in Feb. 2017 alone. These included a Jewish student finding his dorm room broken into and a drawing of Jews being marched into gas chambers on his personal whiteboard. The director of the campus Chabad center, Rabbi Yitzi Steiner, stated that “though such incidents used to be very rare, anti-Semitism on campus has been skyrocketing.” Following the release of the report, the campus Hillel’s executive director, Benjie Kaplan said, “The biggest thing that students were feeling was disbelief that in today’s day and age, these things still happen.” (Algemeiner)

OVER HALF OF MUSLIM MIGRANTS IN BAVARIA HOLD ANTI-SEMITIC VIEWS: Over half of Muslim migrants residing in the German state of Bavaria “showed clear tendencies of an anti-Semitic attitude pattern,” according to a new study. “Emotional prejudices against Israeli families” were also widespread in the 800 migrants interviewed from countries including Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan, according to the study conducted by the Hanns Seidel Foundation think tank. When asked if Jews “have too much influence in the world,” nearly 60 percent of Afghans, 52% of Syrians and 53% of Iraqis agreed with the statement. In comparison, 20% of German respondents replied “yes” to that statement. Only 5.4% of migrants surveyed from Eritrea, a Christian-majority country, were found to hold anti-Semitic views. ANTI-SEMITISM IN GREECE MAY BE HIGHEST IN EUROPE: Experts are urging authorities to take active measures to combat anti-Semitism in Greece after a recent study confirmed levels of hatred toward Jews believed to be the highest in Europe. "Greece has rates of anti-Semitism matching those recorded in countries that neighbor Israel rather than ones in the European Union," said Elias Dinas, a political scientist at the University of Oxford. A report published last month by the Heinrich Boll Foundation, a political think tank, found anti-Jewish sentiment to be as strong on the far left as on the right. Newspapers regularly feature anti-Jewish conspiracy theories, as well as cartoons with anti-Semitic themes or caricatures. (Daily Alert)

A HEALTHIER BUT POORER ISRAEL: The Taub Center for Social Policy Studies in Israel published a report last week presenting its most recent study, Picture of the Nation 2017. While the study touched on positive subjects such as declining unemployment levels, development of the education system, increased expenditure on health and correlating improvement on overall wellbeing of Israelis, it conversely emphasized the higher rates of poverty and highlighted the overall declining welfare of the elderly who are not being cared for by the various authorities tasked with doing so. The study echoes a report from the Shoresh Institute for Socioeconomic Research released in May 2017 showing that a majority of Israelis are living below the poverty line. In terms of disposable income, Israel is the poorest among all the 34 OECD countries. Not covered in detail in the report is the cost of living index as well as cost of housing. A website with average yet conservative up-to-date figures shows that it is almost 15% more expensive to live in Israel than in the United States. (Kehila News) Please intercede that the government of Israel will increase its benefit payments to the elderly and Holocaust survivors who are among the most hard hit of Israel’s poor.

TRUMP KEEPS USA EMBASSY IN TEL AVIV, SAYS PROMISE ‘DELAYED’ NOT BROKEN ON MOVE TO JERUSALEM: President Donald Trump has signed a waiver to keep the USA Embassy in Israel in Tel Aviv, the White House announced on 1 June 2017, backing off from a campaign pledge to move it to Jerusalem. White House officials have described the decision as a delay in Trump’s plans to move the embassy, which likely would provoke Palestinian outrage. “No one should consider this step to be in any way a retreat from the President’s strong support for Israel and for the United States-Israel alliance,” the White House said in a statement. “President Trump made this decision to maximize the chances of successfully negotiating a deal between Israel and the Palestinians, fulfilling his solemn obligation to defend America’s national security interests. But, as he has repeatedly stated his intention to move the embassy, the question is not if that move happens, but only when,” the statement said. Still, the announcement disappointed Israeli leaders and Trump’s supporters at home who rallied to his call on the campaign trail to move the embassy to “the eternal capital of the Jewish people.” In Israel, PM Netanyahu took the blow gracefully. “Though Israel is disappointed that the embassy will not move at this time, we appreciate today’s expression of President Trump’s friendship to Israel and his commitment to moving the embassy in the future,” the prime minister’s office stated. (Washington Times)

‘WE DON’T NEED EMBASSIES IN JERUSALEM – THE WORLD NEEDS THEM’: MK Yehuda Glick responded to President Trump’s decision to leave the USA Embassy in Israel at its present location in Tel Aviv, saying the move had little impact on Israel, but boded ill for efforts to forge a lasting peace in the region. Despite his disappointment with the decision, Glick nevertheless expressed appreciation for the president’s pledge to move the embassy, and said he was optimistic the shift would ultimately be made. Glick added that while he supported the embassy relocation, it had little direct bearing on Israel or the Jewish people and their connection with the city. "Jerusalem is the capital of the people of Israel and the State of Israel. It has been the capital of the people of Israel for 3,000 years. Jerusalem is the heart - three times a day in our prayer. Nobody can change that - Jerusalem is the capital of Israel. The question of whether the embassy will be moved to Jerusalem - we don't need the embassies in Jerusalem, the world needs it. If the world wants to be relevant and connected to reality, they should move their embassies to Jerusalem." STATE TO APPROVE WAVE OF CONSTRUCTION IN JUDEA & SAMARIA: The Civil Administration’s Higher Planning Committee is scheduled to meet this week to approve a series of building projects in Jewish communities in Judea & Samaria. Combined, the projects include plans for more than 2,600 housing units. If passed as expected, this would mark the first time the committee has approved housing projects in Jewish communities in Judea & Samaria since President Trump took office in January 2017. The hearings will cover a number of projects which had been blocked out of political considerations. The projects include housing outside of the major settlement blocs, in towns such as Kfar Tapuah in central Samaria. Officials in Jerusalem say the housing projects are not likely to elicit criticism from the White House, noting the communication between the Prime Minister’s Office and the Trump administration regarding Israeli policy in Judea & Samaria. (INN) Pray Israel will stand strong in its resolve to provide much needed housing for its citizens and pursue its right to expand long standing and thriving Jewish communities – despite international disapproval, which always rears its ugly head when Israel considers building new homes, schools and community facilities in Judea & Samaria.

PALESTINIAN STATEHOOD IS A GRAVE THREAT TO SAUDI ARABIA: Introducing President Trump to the assembled 50 Muslim/Sunni Presidents on 21 May 2017, King Salman of Saudi Arabia spent 8 pages of text excoriating the “Iranian Regime and its affiliated organizations such as Hezbollah and the Houtis, as well as ISIS and Al-Qaeda” for “attempts to exploit Islam as a cover for political purposes that fuel hatred, extremism, terrorism, and religious and sectarian conflicts.” The Saudis have realized that the Iranian knife is at the Saudi and Sunni jugular vein. The Saudis need all the military help they can get and have finally come to understand how militarily vital Israel’s existence is to the safety of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Pundits have claimed Israel needs to create a Palestinian State in order for the Saudis to allow the Israelis help protect them from Iran. That is nonsense. Israel is only valuable to Saudi Arabia and the Sunni Muslims as a military superman and if Israel is pushed back to the 1967 Auschwitz borders, Israel won’t be militarily capable of defending itself, let alone defending Saudi Arabia.

How dangerous is a Judia & Samaria (aka 'West Bank') State to Saudi Arabia and all the Sunni Muslim countries? First, an Israeli withdrawal from Judea & Samaria is most dangerous to Abbas, the master-terrorist himself, and to his cronies. Without Israeli protection, Abbas and his entire corrupt crew will be murdered by Hamas or ISIS, thrown off buildings, unless they manage to run away just like they did in Gaza. The Judea & Samaria Palestinians themselves will be subjected to Hamas' corrupt rule that makes the Abbas regime look like paradise. Iran will have eliminated Abbas, and claimed East Jerusalem for itself. Judea & Samaria will turn into even worse suffering for the Palestinian Arabs living there. And Jordan? Iranian proxies Hamas and Hezbollah were the tactical forces that helped overthrow President Mubarak of Egypt. With an Iranian proxy PA State next door, how long will King Abdullah last? Not very long. Thus, in two short strokes, a Palestinian Arab State will catastrophically destabilize what has been a reasonably stable Saudi Arabian northern border for 60 years. (INN)

ISRAEL RUSHES AID TO SRI LANKA AS FLOODS DISPLACE TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE: Israel has delivered emergency supplies to Sri Lankan authorities as they struggle to cope with the impact of floods and mudslides that have killed nearly 200 people and displaced more than 80,000 from their homes in recent days. Daniel Carmon - Israel’s ambassador to India and Sri Lanka - delivered boxes of relief supplies to Colombo’s Foreign Ministry, including power generators that were taken immediately to afflicted areas. Close to a hundred people are missing, according to Sri Lanka’s Disaster Management Center, and the death toll is expected to rise as authorities try to rescue those still stranded. (Algemeiner)

PORSCHE INVESTS EIGHT FIGURES IN ISRAEL: Porsche is establishing an "innovation office" in Israel, and investing eight figures in the effort, the German sports car manufacturer said in a statement released 1 June 2017. "Porsche is a company that draws on innovation, and now it is establishing an 'innovation office' in Israel." Lutz Meschke, Deputy Chairman of Porsche's Executive Board said "Israel is a key market for IT experts and engineers. It has more start-ups per capita than any other country in the world. This talent and technological know-how coupled with the great expertise offered by our employees creates the ideal breeding ground for future business models." The first step of the move is to invest eight figures in the Magma and Grove venture capital funds, followed by further investments in startups and funds. "By setting up the office in Tel Aviv," the statement reads, "Porsche intends to guarantee access to technology trends and talent." Such investments by an automotive manufacturer in venture firms dedicated to AI are unsurprising, considering Intel's recent $15 billion purchase of Mobileye, a Jerusalem-based autonomous driving company. It seems that the world is looking to Israel to bring it into the future of transportation. “Autonomous cars are not a dream anymore," Mobileye CEO Ziv Aviram said in a media interview. "It's not a matter of if. It's a matter of when." (J. Post)

NEWLY DISCOVERED WELL REVEALS ISRAEL’S ‘SOPHISTICATED ENGINEERING METHODS’ DURING OTTOMAN-ERA: Israeli archaeologists last week announced the discovery of a well that is hundreds of years old and illustrates the “sophisticated engineering methods” of the Ottoman period. The well, found as part of ongoing work to widen Highway 38 near Ramat Bet Shemesh, is the latest in a series of discoveries along the same highway contributing to the reconstruction of the ancient landscape in the lower Judean hills. “Highway 38 constitutes a corridor that links the north of Israel with the south, and it was this way during the course of many periods in the country’s history,” said Michal Haber, the excavation’s director on behalf of the IAA. “Throughout the generations, sites, villages, farms and monasteries were built along this artery, and roadside stations prospered between them. We believe that wells such as the one we exposed were installed at various times to meet the needs of the public traveling on the road and the people who resided alongside it. The latter were careful to maintain the wells as an exclusive source of fresh water and by means of sophisticated engineering methods they prevented these sources from drying up.” (Algemeiner)

JNN News Update June 2, 2017

PALESTINIANS PAID TERRORISTS $1 BILLION IN PAST 4 YEARS: The Palestinian Authority has paid out $1.12 billion over the past four years to terrorists and their families, Brig.-Gen. (res.) Yossi Kuperwasser, former director general of the Ministry of Strategic Affairs, told Knesset members on 29 May 2017. He added that PA claims that the payments are social welfare benefits are false. The Palestinians' own budgetary documents "clearly state that these are salaries and not welfare payments. The Palestinians are trying to depict themselves as supporting peace while they are still paying the families of terrorists," he said. "Assurance of a cash prize for acts of terror is encouragement to terrorism, and is against international law." Dore Gold, a former Foreign Ministry director-general, said, "The idea that a body such as the Palestinian Authority pays money as compensation to families who lost their sons as they were engaged in terror is unacceptable and contradicts common sense. Former USA Secretary of State Colin Powell called it 'providing an incentive to terrorism.'" (Times of Israel) Please continue to intercede that the despicable practice of paying salaries to jailed terrorists and their families - thanks to foreign aid money provided by USA and other taxpayers - will be exposed again and again and brought to a complete end.

NETANYAHU: ISRAELI LAND SWAPS WITH PALESTINIANS WON’T BRING PEACE: PM Benjamin Netanyahu on 30 May 2017 said that any future peace agreement reached with the Palestinians must include an Israeli military presence in Judea & Samaria, and offered insight on security concerns the government may have following a prospective deal. Netanyahu said that "In any peace agreement we [Israel] will have to maintain military control of all the territory west of the Jordan River. This is the truth and I will continue saying this truth." Netanyahu indicated that an Israeli military withdraw from all areas of Judea & Samaria would create a vacuum prone to takeover by extremists, who could pose a threat to Israeli security. (J. Post) Should anyone think it far-fetched reasoning for Israel to be concerned about creating a vacuum for Islamists by surrendered territory for a false peace agreement: In 2005, Israel uprooted every soldier and Jew living in the Gaza Strip hoping it would encourage peace. Instead, Hamas, a terrorist organization that calls for genocide of all Jews, quickly came to power in that area, has launched tens of thousands of rockets and missiles at Israeli civilians and provoked three wars against the Jewish state since 2008.

ISRAELI MINISTER: NETANYAHU NO LONGER BACKS TWO-STATE SOLUTION: Israeli Regional Cooperation Minister Tzachi Hanegbi said this week that neither he nor PM Netanyahu see the two-state solution as viable. Hanegbi claimed that he himself had never backed the two-state solution and Netanyahu no longer has the same vision he outlined in 2009. According to Hanegbi, Netanyahu said "The Palestinians have emptied the two-state solution of its content. Under the conditions they want at present, it is simply not something we can consider. There is no partner for an agreement." Netanyahu and Hanegbi are not the only Israelis who have given up on the two-state solution. A recent op-ed by Dr. Max Singer, posted by the Begin-Sadat Center suggested most Palestinians believe reaching a peace agreement with Israel is tantamount to admitting "defeat in their 100-year struggle. Continued Israeli [so called] occupation is one of the Palestinians' best weapons against Israel,’ he wrote, "and they will not give it up while their war to eliminate Israel continues." Israel is not facing a dilemma about relinquishing sovereignty over disputed areas, Singer said. "There is zero chance that there could be a real peace agreement now regardless of how much land Israel would be willing to give up," he explained. "A true two-state solution would finally defeat Palestinian and Arab efforts of a century, and they are not yet ready to accept defeat.” (CBN) The root of the problem is that making peace with Israel is against their religion: Arabs under the banner of Islam have hurtled themselves against the Jewish State in numerous wars and continual terrorism. Children from infancy are taught to hate and kill both Jews and Christians. Now, almost an entire generation is fully programmed to carry out the assignments taught in their youth. Asking the Palestinians and Arab nations to be nice to Israel amounts to wishful thinking on the part of well meaning but uninformed, and in many cases ambitious politicians. Likewise the majority of Israelis are fed up with talk of slicing off more of the Jewish State and handing it over to terrorist foes in hopes of ending the Middle East Conflict. Understandably, the trial run of sacrificing the Gaza Strip to the Palestinians, in hopes of non violent co-existence with its Islamist neighbors, has proven to be a lethal illusion and is dead. Why should it not be? From the onset Israel has been subjected to peace “double dealing” from a nest of venomous entities rooted into a religion that hates every nation and creed not in submission to Islam, and calls especially for the destruction of Israel.

CORBYN VISIT TO GRAVE OF PLO TERRORIST FROM MUNICH ATTACK STIRS UPROAR: Jewish community leaders in Great Britain expressed shock and outrage this week after it was revealed that UK Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn attended a ceremony honoring a Palestinian terrorist partly responsible for the 1972 Munich killing of Israeli Olympians. Corbyn, who is currently campaigning to become Britain's next prime minister, reportedly traveled to Tunisia in October 2014 to visit the grave of Atef Bseiso, the former head of intelligence for the Palestinian Liberation Organization and direct accomplice involved in the Munich attack. "In light of today's news reports, it is high time that Jeremy Corbyn clarify his views regarding Palestinian terrorism," said Simon Johnson, the CEO of the Jewish Leadership Council. "At first sight, attending a wreath laying ceremony of a known terrorist, who led one of the most notorious acts of international terrorism, the attack on the Munich Olympics, would appear to be beyond the pale." Corbyn had described visiting Bseiso's grave in a column he had written for the communist-founded Morning Star newspaper, recalling that "wreaths were laid on the graves of those killed by Mossad agents in Paris in 1991," while commenting that the day was "poignant."

Members of Corbyn's own party also lashed out at the faction leader, with Jennifer Gerber, Director of Labour Friends of Israel stating: “It is almost unbelievable that any Labour MP would participate in a ceremony honoring a man involved in the vicious murder of innocent Israeli athletes. Unfortunately, this appears to be part of a very disturbing pattern of behavior and we are seeking urgent clarification from the Leader's office on this matter." Members of the Palestinian terror organization Black September killed 11 Israeli athletes during the 1972 Olympics along with one German Police officer. Israel later hunted down and allegedly killed anyone involved in the massacre. The election for Great Britain's next prime minister is scheduled for 8 June 2017 where Corbyn faces an uphill battle from current incumbent Theresa May. (Jerusalem Post) Please intercede that a stunning defeat unfolds for Jeremy Corbyn in his race for the next UK prime minister. Corbyn has time and again expressed by words and actions his warm regard for terrorist leaders, and those serving them, who have carried out acts of brutal carnage against the Jews and Israel. Theresa May is a decades-long, outspoken friend of the Jewish state and its people.

IRANIAN LEADER: ‘ISRAEL IS THE BIGGEST THREAT TO HUMANITY’: Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani launched a scathing attack on Israel, calling it “aggressive and racist” and saying it will always remain a source of threat to the nations in the Middle East and humanity in general. Larijani's attack came in a message to Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah, on the 17th anniversary of Israel's withdrawal from southern Lebanon. He expressed confidence that unity and solidarity among different Lebanese groups would shape a “bright future” for people in Lebanon and the Islamic resistance movement. This is not the first time that Larijani, who is referred to in Iran as a “moderate conservative”, has attacked Israel. He has in the past referred to Israel as a “cancer” and once boasted of the fact that Iran provided Hamas with the technology it has used to rain down rockets on Israel from Gaza. Larijani is not alone in his attacks of Israel, as Iranian officials consistently threaten the Jewish state. In Dec. 2016 Iran’s defense minister warned that if Trump’s policies lead to a war in the Middle East, it would result in the destruction of Israel. Many of the threats against Israel have come from Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who has referred to Israel as a “cancer” and in the past threatened to "annihilate" the cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa. In Feb. 2017, a senior member of Iran's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission and a former Revolutionary Guards official, said that if attacked, Iran could hit Tel Aviv with a missile within seven minutes. DROUGHT DAMAGE: 30% RISE IN SALINITY OF THE KINNERET: An annual report published by the Regional Council of the Jordan Valley has found that Israel’s national lake, the Kinneret, is becoming saltier every year. According to the report, the salinity of the Kinneret has risen by about 30% in the past 5 years. The Regional Council of the Jordan Valley responded to the findings. “There is no doubt that, for farmers, this is not encouraging news, to say the least. Yesterday, they were informed of a leap of dozens of percentage points in the price of water for agricultural purposes. If the water of the Kinneret becomes unsuitable for irrigation purposes, the price farmers will be required to pay is likely to jump again.” (Arutz-7)

ANCIENT WAR FOR JERUSALEM ECHOES AS STONES AND ARROWHEADS UNCOVERED: The remains of weapons used by Roman legionnaires and desperate Jewish rebels in Jerusalem in the first century AD recently went on display, with Israeli archaeologists linking the last battle before Jerusalem fell 2,000 years ago with ongoing celebrations to mark the 50th anniversary of Jerusalem’s reunification after the 1967 Six Day War. According to the Israel Antiquities Authority, an account by first century Roman-Jewish historian Josephus on the fall of Jerusalem is being confirmed by objects discovered on an ancient road that used to ascend from the city’s gates and the Pool of Siloam to the Jewish Temple, including the arms. “On the following day, the Romans, having routed the brigands from the town, set all on fire as far as Siloam,” Josephus wrote in “The Wars of the Jews.” Among other finds, archaeologists dug up stone ballista balls flung by roman catapults and arrowheads used by Jewish rebels behind barricades as the city fell to the Romans in 70 AD. “Josephus’s descriptions of the battle in the lower city has come face-to-face for the first time with evidence that was revealed in the field in a clear and chilling manner,” dig organizers Nahshon Szanton and Moran Hagbi said in a statement.
