IRON DOME INTERCEPTS MULTIPLE ROCKETS FIRED FROM EGYPT OVER EILAT: A red alert siren sounded in Eilat in southern Israel Wed. night, 8 Feb. 2017 the IDF reported. At least four missiles were fired from the direction of the Egyptian border and three were successfully intercepted by Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system. Eilat Police reported that none of the rockets fell within city limits. The incident comes just hours after a mortar fell in the Golan Heights near the border fence. There were no known causalities or damage. The IDF reported that the mortar was spillover from fighting within Syria, and in response, the IDF attacked a target in the northern Syrian Golan and confirmed a hit. Such spillover is not unusual, and the IDF has usually responded, even if it was expected to be accidental, with attacks against Syrian Army positions. (J.Post) Intercede for the ongoing protection of Israel’s southern and northern borders; against intentional missile fire from terrorist group, Hamas, in the Gaza Strip and ISIS associated factions operating from the Sinai Desert - as well as from spillover fire from the Syrian conflict in the North.

IDF RESPONDS TO ROCKET AND GUNFIRE FROM GAZA: IDF tanks and aircraft destroyed six Hamas positions on 6 Feb. 2017, after a rocket was fired toward Israel and Hamas forces opened fire on an IDF force working near the Gaza border fence. Israel’s PM Netanyahu said: "We will respond to all shooting with heavy fire. There is no way that someone can shoot at us and we don't respond." (Ynet News)

NEW HAMAS PROPAGANDA VIDEO: 'BE PRECISE, HIT ISRAELI ARMY HEADQUARTERS': As tensions between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip increase, Hamas has issued a new animated video in Hebrew, called “Zionist: You Will Perish in Gaza.” The song was uploaded to YouTube on Tues. night 7 Feb. 2017, and has started going viral. The rhetoric including “I will eat you alive, tastes best without salt, Zionist –Yes, yes, you” is accompanied by swords chopping bodies in half, and bloody heads being severed. The video threatens Israeli military sites including the “kirya” or Defense Ministry, and is sung in Arabic-accented Hebrew. Israeli analysts said the goal of the video was to scare Israelis into pressuring their government not to enter a new round of fighting in Gaza. Earlier this week, a rocket from Gaza hit southern Israel and Israel responded with a series of attacks on Hamas installations in Gaza. (Medialine)

GAZA STRIP TERRORIST GROUP PREPARES FOR THE NEXT ROUND OF WAR: Abu Ubaida, spokesman of Hamas' military wing, said at a recent ceremony in Gaza that Hamas views the Palestinian problem as a problem of the Islamic world and an existential, historical, struggle. "Hamas has never for a moment given up its strategy of destroying Israel. Although the military balance of power is in Israel's favor, Hamas is constantly improving its capabilities and building its military preparedness for the next round. It aims to inflict painful strategic blows on Israel through short- and long-range rocket fire, attack tunnels, booby-trapped drones, naval commando forces infiltrated into Israeli territory, and even cyber warfare and hacking into IDF soldiers' computers and telephones. Hamas has fully rehabilitated its military capabilities that were damaged in the 2014 Gaza war. Currently, Hamas has several thousand rockets aimed at Israel and dozens of attack tunnels, intended to infiltrate gunmen under the Gaza border into Israel for murder and kidnapping attacks against civilians and soldiers. Hamas works round the clock on manufacturing rockets and digging tunnels.” (Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs) Everything; all resources, goals, hopes, educational tools, and endeavors of the ruling Gaza Strip terrorist organization are always and ever focused on the “destruction of Israel.” Hamas wastes hundreds of millions of financial aid dollars, donated by world governments, on unending incitement, attacks, and hopeless wars against the Jewish state. When Israel finally needs to defend its citizens against ongoing rocket fire and terrorist attacks, Hamas then cries to the world for funds to rebuild structures and areas shattered by who they call the “oppressor”, Israel. Such funds, instead of being used for construction, are then put into the terrorist coffers once again to start reequipping the arsenals and building terrorist tunnels for the next round against the Jewish state. Albert Einstein is broadly credited with exclaiming “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”. The Gaza Strip is clearly run by madmen. Pray for a miracle of change to take place in the Gaza Strip government and for an overthrow of the Hamas terrorist organization.

2017 TERROR FORECAST FOR USA, EUROPE ‘ALARMING,’ SAYS HOUSE REPORT: The USA and European terror forecast for 2017 'looks alarming,' in part because of increased pressure on ISIS and other terror groups on their home turf, according to a monthly assessment by House lawmakers. Officials predicted necessary efforts to crush foreign terror groups could actually spur more attacks on Western soil. Coming attacks in the USA and Europe could be carried out by lone wolves as well as homegrown terrorists who return from fighting in such places as Iraq, Syria and Somalia. “I am very encouraged that the Trump administration is preparing to put greater pressure on jihadists in their safe havens throughout the world,” said House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul. “But as they do, we can expect to see militants [terrorists] returning to the West to build new networks and to plot more deadly operations.” The report is based on information gleaned from the media, publicly available government data and documents and nongovernmental assessments. Since the beginning of 2016, there have been plots or attacks by 39 homegrown jihadists in 19 USA states. Two instances occurred on American soil last month: The attack at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport carried out in the first week of 2017 by Esteban Santiago, radicalized by ISIS videos, and the 31 Jan. murder of a Denver Regional Transportation District contract security officer by a suspect carrying jihadist material in his backpack. The report also cites numerous incidents in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. (Fox)

PM: ISRAEL FIGHTS TERROR, PROVIDES A SERVICE TO EUROPE: Israel’s PM Netanyahu said on 7 Feb. 2017, "Israel is at the forefront of countries that fight against radical Islam. We share intelligence on terrorism." Speaking at the beginning of a meeting with Belgian PM Charles Michel, Netanyahu stressed, "It is important to recognize that Israel is the most powerful force in the Middle East preventing the collapse of the western Middle East. If this would happen, it would cause terrible suffering to many millions of residents of the region, and the flow of refugees to Europe would increase. Israel prevents it. In many ways it is one of the most powerful forces preventing the strengthening of the tragedy. I think in that sense, Israel is doing an important service to the peoples of Europe including Belgium." (INN)

NETANYAHU: BRITAIN AND ISRAEL SEE ‘EYE TO EYE’ ON NUCLEAR IRAN: During his visit to Britain to meet with PM Theresa May on 6 Feb. 2017, Israel’s PM Netanyahu confirmed that both states see “eye to eye” on nuclear Iran. Netanyahu met with May ahead of a diplomatic visit to Belgium. Speaking to the press following their meeting, he confirmed that Israel and Britain agree on the grave danger that stems from Iran’s buildup and aggression, and its expansion into vast areas, as well as consequences for Iran should its aggression continue. Netanyahu and May’s meeting centered on strengthening ties between the UK and Israel as Britain exits the European Union, as well as increasing cooperation and development in the areas of economy, cyber security and technology. Netanyahu stated that both leaders discussed not only Iran as the greatest threat to the Jewish State, but also spoke about Syria, terrorist group, Hezbollah and Iran’s involvement in supporting terror against Israel in the Middle East. He emphasized that both “agreed that it is important to stop this situation through a number of means.” Addressing the press, May stated that “Britain remains a very strong, close friend of Israel, with lots of areas in which we already work together, such as science and trade, but also other areas like security,” adding that there are “multiple areas that we can add to that, looking to the future.” (Kehila News)

HEBREW UNIVERSITY ARCHAEOLOGISTS FIND 12 DEAD SEA SCROLL CAVE: After years of fruitless searches for further Dead Sea Scrolls in caves on the cliffs near the historic Dead Sea, archaeologists on 8 Feb. 2017 claimed to have evidence of a 12th cave, which once held more hidden scrolls from the Second Temple period. However, after excavating the ancient hollow, located near the sea’s northwestern shore, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem researchers concluded that the additional scrolls were looted by Bedouins in the middle of the last century. The archeologists, including Dr. Oren Gutfeld and Ahiad Ovadia from the university’s Institute of Archeology, are the first in over 60 years to have discovered a new scroll cave. “Numerous storage jars and lids from the Second Temple period were found hidden in niches along the walls of the cave, and deep inside a long tunnel at its rear,” recalled Gutfeld. “The jars were all broken and their contents removed, and the discovery towards the end of the excavation of a pair of iron pickaxe heads from the 1950s, stored within the tunnel for later use, proves the cave was looted.” Until recently, it was believed that only 11 caves had contained the coveted scrolls. “Although at the end of the day no scroll was found, the findings indicate beyond any doubt that the cave contained scrolls that were stolen,” he said. “Those findings include the jars in which the scrolls and their coverings were hidden, a leather strap for binding the scroll, a cloth that wrapped the scrolls, tendons and pieces of skin connecting fragments, and more.” While lamenting the theft, Israel Hasson, director-general of the Israel Antiquities Authority, contended that the discovery bodes well for future finds. JNN News Update Feb. 8, 2017

ISRAEL'S KNESSET PASSES BILL LEGALIZING 4000 SETTLER HOMES: The Israeli Knesset on Mon. night 7 Feb. 2017, voted in favor of legislation that would see thousands of housing units in Judea & Samaria outposts legalized, in a move that is already causing widespread criticism. The Regulation Law legalizes and protects thousands of Jewish homes in Judea & Samaria which were built with government backing and no knowledge of the existence of absentee land owners, but against which there are now claims of property ownership. Under the Regulation Law, the homes built on such properties will be allowed to remain, and owners with proven claims to the land will be given a choice of receiving an alternate plot of land or monetary compensation for 125% of their land's value. The law has been condemned by the previous USA administration of Barack Obama, the European Union, the UN and Israel’s own attorney general, Avichai Mandelblit, who has warned that it marks the first time Israeli legislation explicitly affirms government support for the settlements, and would openly curtail property rights of Palestinians in Judea & Samaria. (Times of Israel/Arutz-7/i24)

‘THE NEXT STEP IS SOVEREIGNTY’: Likud MK Yehuda Glick discussed the Regulation Law, which passed its second and third readings in the Knesset on Mon. evening, 6 Feb. 2017. The Jewish communities in Judea & Samaria are “an irreversible process”, Glick explained. “If we see thousands of houses that are in danger, we have to make sure that they are legal, and therefore the law which legalizes these houses is something to which we are obligated. The Israeli government, run by Binyamin Netanyahu and the Likud party, promised our people that we positively support the Jewish settlements in Judea & Samaria, and we will do everything we can in that regard,” he said. “Eventually, our next step is implementing Jewish-Israeli sovereignty over all of Judea & Samaria,” declared Glick. (INN)

‘THE HIGH COURT WILL STRIKE DOWN THE REGULATION LAW’: Israel’s former Justice Minister Prof. Daniel Friedman said Tues. 7 Feb. 2017 that the chances that the Supreme Court will not strike down the Regulation Law passed in the Knesset are low. Friedman said that the Court will likely reject the Law on grounds that it presents a blow to private property rights. He said that “it’s true that a possibility exists in existing Israeli law regarding unregulated property, if someone built in good faith and thought that it was his land, that he can obtain the property. However, the definition in the Regulation Law of ‘good faith’ is very wide. It’s enough that the State supported it in some way for it to be considered in good faith.” In addition, Friedman asserted that the ICC’s preoccupation with the Law posed a danger to Israel. “The Hague is checking it, it’s something we’re trying to deal with,” he said. There’s no justification for the ICC to be dealing with it. The Court has a lot of problems - it doesn’t address the worst of human rights offenses happening in the world.” Nevertheless, he said that “the moment they’re dealing with it, it’s not the best thing to enact a law like this. International Law is much more much more politically biased - than our internal law. Despite the fact that I oppose the Regulation Law, use of the Hague is extreme and unreasonable - but it can happen,” he concluded.

Meanwhile MK Bezalel Smotrich plans to submit this week a bill that seeks to enable the Knesset to re-enact laws previously struck down by the Supreme Court. The bill comes amidst assessments that Israel’s Supreme Court will reject the Regulation Law, which seeks to protect Jewish towns in Judea & Samaria from third-party land claims, passed this week. Smotrich collected the signatures of the heads of all coalition parties for the bill, aside from that of Kulanu Chairman Moshe Kahlon. Speaking with reporters, Smotrich called the passage of the Regulation Law “historic.” “We are returning the decision-making process to the people,” he said. (Arutz-7) Pray according to God’s promise for Israel’s land and all the Jewish settlements, communities and cities upon it: “As a shepherd looks after his scattered flock when he is with them, so will I look after my sheep. I will rescue them from all the places where they were scattered on a day of clouds and darkness. I will bring them out from the nations and gather them from the countries, and I will bring them into their own land. I will pasture them on the mountains of Israel, in the ravines and in all the settlements in the land.” Ezek 34: 12-13

USA STATE DEPT. REFUSES TO CONDEMN REGULATION LAW: Following the passage in the Knesset of the “Regulation Law,” the USA State Department has taken a “wait-and-see” approach - while, at the same time, calling on Israel’s enemies to withhold hostile action against the Jewish state. The Regulation Law legalizes and protects thousands of Jewish homes in Judea & Samaria which were built with government backing and lacked absentee land claims, but against which there are now property claims. In response to the passage of the Law, a State Department official said the USA administration was “withholding comment” for the time being. "At this point, indications are that this legislation is likely to be reviewed by the relevant Israeli courts, and the Trump administration will withhold comment on the legislation until the relevant court ruling." At the same time, the official called on the Palestinians and their supporters not to challenge the Law before the international community, claiming such action would be counterproductive to peace. "We are concerned that other actors have said they may seek to challenge this measure in multilateral fora, including at the International Criminal Court," he said. "We continue to strongly oppose actions against Israel at the ICC.” Speaking after the law was finalized, Bezalel Smotrich of the far-right Jewish Home, who was one of the forces behind the legislation, thanked the American people for electing Donald Trump as president, "without whom the law would have probably not passed". (Arutz-7)

ISRAEL’S JUSTICE MINISTER: EFFORTS TO REMOVE TERRORISM-INCITEMENT FROM SOCIAL MEDIAL PLATFORMS BEARING FRUIT: Israel’s justice minister said on 6 Feb. 2017 that the Jewish state’s efforts to combat incitement on social media were finally bearing fruit. Addressing an international cyber conference in Tel Aviv - attended by more than 70 ambassadors and attaches from around the world - Ayelet Shaked said that more than 1,400 requests to remove pages and posts containing content aimed at inciting terrorism have been partially or fully accepted as valid by Internet companies. Shaked told the gathering about the inter-ministerial task force, led by the cyber department of the State’s Attorney’s Office, established last year to locate online incitement and submit legal requests for its removal. She said that since it began operating, the task force has had a 78% success rate. The justice minister also referred to the dialogue that Israel has been conducting with major web platforms, such as Google and Facebook, to come to an understanding of the shared interest of not promoting violence. She said that though there was still a “long road ahead” in the endeavor to cause the providers to increase their level of involvement in what is going on in their platforms, “We are beginning to reap the fruits of our labor, and are finding the large Internet providers attentive.” (Algemeiner) Continue to pray against social media content aimed at inciting terrorism and hatred against the Jewish people and the state of Israel.

THE JEW WHO CHANGED THE COURSE OF THE SUPER BOWL: No one understands how Julian Edelman made the catch that led his team to victory on Sunday night, 5 Feb. 2017. Many are already calling it the greatest catch in the history of the Super Bowl. Others say it's just the craziest. "I don't know how he caught it. I don't think he knows," said teammate and New England Patriots star Tom Brady, who made the pass. The game was one of the most dramatic in the history of American football, and has been compared to Donald Trump's election victory. The Patriots were in arrears 28-3 versus the Atlanta Falcons in the third quarter of the game, but finally managed to win 34-28 in overtime. Edelman's catch was in the fourth quarter, when the Falcons led 28-20. The ball was thrown from a distance of about 25 meters, and was at first fumbled by one of the Falcons, Robert Alford. But Alford could not gain control of the ball, it hit his leg. And somehow, with perfect instincts, Edelman managed to catch it a few inches from the turf. Edelman became the star of the Super Bowl and commentators who interviewed him after the game said that the game will be remembered for his historic play. (Arutz-7)

NFL PLAYERS TO VISIT ISRAEL: In Israel “football” means soccer. But a group of 11 NFL players hope to introduce Israelis to the “real football.” They will visit Israel next week after accepting an invitation from Israel’s Tourism Ministry. They will visit holy Jewish and Christian sites and even hold an exhibition match with the Israeli football team in Jerusalem. Among the players are Super Bowl XLVIII Champions Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett, the duo of starting defensive ends for the Seattle Seahawks Defense. Bennet’s younger brother and New England Patriots Tight End Martellus Bennet, will also be part of the delegation. Also coming is ESPN Football Commentator and former NFL linebacker Kirk Morrison. TEL AVIV UNIVERSITY AMONG WORLD’S TOP 10 SCHOOLS PRODUCING FOUNDERS OF BILLION-DOLLAR STARTUPS: Tel Aviv University is among the world’s top 10 schools to have produced the most founders of billion-dollar startups, according to British accounting software company Sage, Business Insider UK reported last month. According to the report, seven TAU graduates have gone on to establish “unicorn” companies — those that reach the coveted position of becoming worth at least $1 billion — an achievement that earned the Israeli institution of higher learning the number eight slot on Sage’s list. Stanford University came in number one, with 51 graduates to have reached the $1 billion threshold, and Harvard placed second, with 37 alums accomplishing the feat. (Algemeiner)

ISRAEL ZOO ANNOUNCES RARE WHITE RHINO BIRTH: A zoo in central Israel on 6 Feb. 2017, announced the rare birth of a white rhinoceros, an endangered species. Rami, a male, was born several days ago in the Ramat Gan zoological center and safari park following an 18-month pregnancy. Rihanna, his seven-and-a-half-year-old mother originally from South Africa, mated with four-year-old Atari in the safari park. Rihanna belongs to the southern white rhinoceros subspecies, of which some 20,000 remain globally. (UK Dailymail)

JNN News Update Feb. 6, 2017

NETANYAHU TO PRESS BRITAIN FOR ‘COMMON STAND’ AGAINST IRAN: Before leaving for London for his first meeting with British PM Theresa May, Israel’s PM Benjamin Netanyahu said Sunday morning 5 Feb. 2017 that Israel is on the cusp of a “very significant” diplomatic period. Speaking at the weekly cabinet meeting, Netanyahu disclosed that in his discussions with May and with British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson, he will emphasize the need for a “common stand” against the “Iranian aggression that has reared its head in recent days. This needs to be done on a regular basis, especially in light of their defiance of the world order.” His comments come just days after USA President Donald Trump and his National Security Adviser Michael Flynn put the Iranians “on notice” that their disruptive behavior in the region and the world will not be tolerated. Israel’s Energy and Water Minister Yuval Steinitz praised Trump for his position on Iran, saying that “finally a USA president has stood up and said 'we will restrain Iran's misbehavior and its spread in the Middle East. We will not let them continue to develop ballistic missiles, we will not let them continue to transfer weapons to Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.’” (J.Post)

TRUMP TEAM STARTS TO GET TOUGH ON IRAN: Iran just got a loud - and long overdue - wake-up call from the Trump administration that its rogue and destabilizing behavior will no longer be tolerated. The Treasury Department on 3 Feb. 2017, imposed new economic sanctions against 25 individuals and entities involved in Iran’s ballistic-missile program. The immediate provocation was Iran’s launch of a medium-range ballistic missile that traveled 630 miles before exploding. It’s the 12th such test since then-President Barack Obama’s nuclear pact with Iran was implemented. And it clearly violates UN Security Council resolutions. It must be remembered that limits on Iran’s nuclear enrichment expire as early as 2025. The regime plainly means to have missiles ready to load with nukes by then. The new sanctions also slap Iran’s continued support for terrorist groups like Hezbollah based in Lebanon, and the Houthi rebels in Yemen, who’ve recently attacked Saudi and Emirati ships. Now, as one senior official said: “Iran has a choice to make. We are going to continue to respond to their behavior in an ongoing way, at an appropriate level.” On Thurs. 2 Feb. 2017, 22 senators - evenly divided between Republicans and Democrats - called on President Trump to take the lead in countering Iran. And that’s precisely what he’s doing. The days of turning a blind eye toward Iranian outrages are hopefully over. (Arutz-7)

‘IRAN IS THE BIGGEST STATE SPONSOR OF TERROR’: USA Defense Secretary James Mattis on 4 Feb. 2017, blasted Iran and described it as "the single biggest state sponsor of terrorism in the world". Iran's "misconduct and misbehavior" would have to be addressed, said Mattis, who spoke a day after the United States imposed new sanctions on Iran in response to last week’s ballistic missile test. "We have a responsibility with the rest of the nations to be absolutely clear with Iran in this regard. It does no good to ignore it. It does no good to dismiss it," Mattis said in Tokyo, where he met with his Japanese counterpart to discuss security issues. On Friday 3 Feb. 2017, the Treasury Department announced new sanctions on 25 individuals and companies connected to Iran's ballistic missile program and those providing support to the Revolutionary Guard Corps' Qods Force. (Israel National News)

DAY AFTER USA IMPOSES FRESH SANCTIONS, IRAN CARRIES OUT FURTHER MISSILE TESTS: Iran carried out further missile tests during an annual military exercise, a day after President Donald Trump imposed fresh sanctions on a raft of individuals and companies in response to the country test-firing a ballistic rocket last week. The country successfully tested a range of land-to-land missiles and radar systems during the drills in a 35,000 square-kilometer stretch of desert in the northern Iran, the semi-official Tasnim agency reported on 4 Feb. 2017. (Algemeiner) Pray that as global political fires continue to flare and burn over Iran that Israel will be given divine strategies to protect her people against the Islamic Republic’s murderous agenda, and will know when and how to carry them out.

IRAN SAYS MISSILES WILL ‘COME DOWN’ ON ENEMIES IF THEY DO WRONG: Iran’s missiles will come down on the country’s enemies if they do wrong, a senior commander in Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guard was quoted as saying on 4 Feb. 2017. Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh, chief of the Guard’s airspace division, said: “If the enemy does not walk the line, our missiles will come down on them.” Hajizadeh’s comments came during a Revolutionary Guard military exercise aimed at testing its missile and radar systems. Tasnim said all the equipment used in the war game, including all defensive systems, radars, command centers and ground-to-air missile equipment, are designed and manufactured by Iranian scientists. Iranian English Press TV reported that Iran Vice President Ishaq Jahangiri dismissed what he called recent anti-Iran posturing by the USA. He said “threadbare” accusations are aimed by Washington at scaring away investors. “The Iranian nation and authorities do not attach the least value to these remarks,” he said. (CBS) Iranian leaders, on a near daily basis, spew contempt at the USA government and continue with threats to annihilate Israel. In addition to continued support of global terrorism and banned missile tests, reports from Germany confirm that Iranian efforts to illegally procure nuclear technology are as high as ever. Pray that many more government leaders will take stands to effectively undermine Iran’s vicious goals against Israel and the West.

REPORT: OBAMA ALLOWED IRAN MISSILES THAT COULD HIT ISRAEL: Just as Iran announced the testing of a ballistic missile last week and the Trump administration reviewed plans for new sanctions, the rogue Islamic regime claimed that in nuclear negotiations, former President Obama allowed Iran to have missiles that could strike Israel. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps “indicated that restrictions on the range of Iranian missiles so that they reach Israel but not Europe were part of the Iran deal,” reported the Middle East Media Research Institute. MEMRI said that according to Iranian officials, the Obama administration gave unwritten consent in the nuclear talks for Iran to develop ballistic missiles with a range of only 2,000 kilometers, or 1,200 miles, which means they could strike Israel but not Europe. The agreement purports to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons, restricting its research and development capabilities. However, critics say it gives Iran the capability of building nuclear weapons once the deal expires. (WND) The flying distance from Tehran to Jerusalem is a mere 968 miles. Pray against the Iranian threat against Israel according to scripture’s promise: “No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn.” Isa 54:17

ANTI-SEMITE VANDALIZES CHICAGO LOOP SYNAGOGUE: Chicago Police have opened a hate crime investigation after the plate glass window of the Chicago Loop Synagogue in downtown Chicago was shattered shortly after midnight on 4 Feb. 2017. The synagogue's surveillance cameras show a dark-clothed man wearing a mask exit a dark vehicle, plaster swastika stickers on the synagogue's front door, smash the synagogue's front windows with a metal object, then run back to his car. Nearby construction workers noticed the man and called the police. Loop Synagogue President Lee Zoldan said, "I was stunned. I was not prepared for any of this. We have a lot of contingency plans for what happens religiously, or what happens financially, but not for this. We serve all the Jews in the Loop, which is a lot of Jews. We intend to continue to be here and continue serving our community. It's not going to take us down. We're going to remain strong." (Jewish Press/INN)

MAN SHOVES JEWISH WOMAN, CALLS HER ‘DIRTY JEW’ ON NY SUBWAY: A Jewish woman was verbally abused and shoved aboard a New York City subway by a man with a German accent who recited from an anti-Semitic pamphlet, according to a newspaper report. The incident last week occurred shortly after the suspect, a white man in a dark blue jacket with close-cropped blond hair, boarded the train at a downtown Manhattan station. The suspect shoved the woman, an unnamed 25-year-old, after shouting at her “dirty Jew” and “hail the Hitler Youth!” He was carrying a black bag or briefcase and is still at large, the report said. In an apparently unrelated incident, a swastika was found etched last week in a subway window at a station in Manhattan's Tribeca neighborhood. (Arutz-7)

IRANIAN KARATE FIGHTER REFUSES TO COMPETE AGAINST ISRAELI: Iranian karate practitioner Majid Hassaninia refused to take on his Israeli opponent in the 21st Open de Paris - Karate Premier League in France. On Friday 3 Feb. 2017 Hassaninia did not show up for a scheduled encounter against a representative from Israel and was subsequently excluded from the rest of the tournament. The Islamic Republic of Iran has long refused to engage in sports competitions against Israel. (Press TV-Iran)

ANTI-SEMITISM IN BRITAIN RISES TO RECORD LEVELS: The number of anti-Semitic incidents in Britain rose by more than a third to record levels in 2016, according to data released this week by the Community Security Trust (CST), which monitors incidents of anti-Semitism and provides security to Jewish communities. The group recorded 1,309 incidents of anti-Jewish hate last year, compared with 960 in 2015, a rise of 36%. The previous record number of incidents was in 2014, when 1,182 were recorded. The CST’s chief executive, David Delew, said that “the heightened level of anti-Semitism is deeply worrying and is getting worse. Worst of all is that some people clearly feel more confident to express their anti-Semitism publicly than they did in the past.” The 2014 spike in incidents was attributed to the war in Gaza that summer, which was deemed to be a “trigger event” and which saw a rise in anti-Semitic incidents throughout Europe. However, no such trigger was identified for 2016.

The 1,309 anti-Semitic incidents recorded in 2016 included 107 violent assaults, up 29% on the previous year; 65 incidents of damage and desecration to Jewish property; and 1,006 incidents of abusive behavior, including verbal abuse, graffiti and on social media. Over three-quarters of incidents were recorded in Greater London and Greater Manchester, where the majority of British Jews live. In Dec. 2016 British Interior Minister Amber Rudd promised funds totaling $17 million towards the protection of Jewish synagogues, schools, kindergartens, and museums. In response to the numbers published this week, Rudd said the government would continue “to do all we can to stamp out these vile attacks and encourage those who experience them to come forward.” (Arutz-7) Pray as anti-Semitism spirals throughout Europe that many within persecuted Jewish communities will decide to make Aliyah to Israel. “The Lord has established Zion, and in her his afflicted people will find refuge.” Isa 14:32

BRITISH PM SLAMS MUSLIM COUNTRIES FOR BANNING ENTRY BY ISRAELIS: Donald Trump's controversial ban on the entry to the USA of citizens of seven Muslim countries has also drawn attention to a less known prohibition instituted by 16 Muslim countries against the entry of Israeli citizens into their territory. The issue reached the British parliament on 1 Jan.2017, where British PM Theresa May denounced the discrimination against Israelis and called on Opposition Leader Jeremy Corbyn to join her in denouncing the bigotry. “We are consistent with our approach. We don’t agree with that approach of banning entry to countries by citizens and it’s not an approach that we will be taking. And I wait for the day when the right honorable gentleman opposite actually stands up and condemns it, too.” Corbyn has been accused in the past of anti-Semitic statements, such as when he appeared to compare Israel to the Islamic State in a speech within the Labor party. The list of nations that bar entry to Israeli nationals include six of the seven countries targeted by Trump’s action. The list includes Algeria, Bangladesh, Brunei, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Oman, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Yemen. (Arutz-7)

CANADIAN SCHOOL EXCLUDES ISRAELIS BECAUSE OF ‘SETTLEMENTS’: A trade school in Canada which banned Israeli applicants due to Israel’s alleged “illegal settlement activity” rescinded the ban this week following an intervention by B’nai Brith Canada and members of the Canadian Jewish community. Stav Daron, an Israeli engineering student and amateur carpenter, had hoped to take a course at the Island School of Building Arts (ISBA), located in the province of British Columbia. However, when he tried to confirm his registration in Jan. 2017 he was told via email that, “Due to the conflict and illegal settlement activity in the region, we are not accepting applications from Israel.” B’nai Brith Canada noted in a statement earlier this week that refusing to provide a service on grounds of race, religion, ancestry or place of origin is prohibited by the British Columbia Human Rights Code. After receiving a legal letter from B’nai Brith, the school apologized for discriminating against Daron, noting that it had “decided to rescind any restriction placed on accepting students from Israel and apologize for any inconvenience.” (Arutz-7)

TRUMP TO IRAN: YOU'RE OFFICIALLY 'ON NOTICE': An increasingly belligerent Iran, which was handed billions of dollars from American taxpayers by the Obama administration but tested a missile this week - one of several recent violation of international rules - was put on notice by the Trump administration. The warning came from the White House national security adviser, Michael Flynn, who said “recent Iranian actions, including a provocative ballistic missile launch and an attack against a Saudi naval vessel conducted by Iran-supported Houthi terrorists, underscore what should have been clear to the international community all along about Iran’s destabilizing behavior across the Middle East.” Explaining that the Obama administration “failed to respond adequately to Tehran’s malign actions - including weapons transfers, support for terrorism, and other violations of international norms,” Flynn said the Trump administration “condemns such actions by Iran that undermine security, prosperity, and stability throughout and beyond the Middle East and place American lives at risk. As of today, we are officially putting Iran on notice,” Flynn said.

Trump already is on record criticizing the various promises, payments and commitments made to Iran by both the USA and the United Nations as weak and ineffective. “Instead of being thankful to the United States for these agreements, Iran is now feeling emboldened,” the national security adviser said. “The recent ballistic missile launch is also in defiance of UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which calls upon Iran ‘not to undertake any activity related to ballistic missiles designed to be capable of delivering nuclear weapons, including launches using such ballistic missile technology.’ (WND) Pray for the success of those in the USA government who oppose and have authority to bring about harsh penalties and sanctions against the Islamic Republic. Iran is clearly thumbing its nose at the world as it continues to violate international rules with ballistic missile tests, support of terrorism and ongoing threats of destruction against the Jewish state.

IRAN WON'T BOW TO 'USELESS' USA THREATS: A top adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said on Thurs. 2 Feb. 2017 that Iran will not yield to “useless” USA threats from “an inexperienced person” over its ballistic missile program. President Donald Trump’s national security adviser, Michael Flynn, said the previous day that the United States was putting Iran on notice over its “destabilizing activity” after it test-fired a ballistic missile. Trump, also on Thurs., echoed that language and said that his administration was reviewing how to respond to the launch that Iran said was solely for defensive purposes. (Reuters)

USA WARNS PALESTINIAN LEADERS AGAINST SUING ISRAEL IN INTERNATIONAL COURTS: The USA has warned Palestinian leaders that suing Israel in international courts would trigger severe steps including the closure of PLO offices in Washington and an end to economic aid to the Palestinian Authority. A high-ranking Palestinian source said that President Trump signed an order to execute a congressional resolution, passed in 2015, to bar the transfer of any funds to the Palestinian Authority were it to initiate any investigation against Israel at the World Court or support such an investigation. "Messages arriving from Washington in recent days made clear that any such step by the Palestinians would lead to a severe American reaction, so much so that some talked about returning the PLO to the list of terrorist organizations," said the Palestinian source. (Ha'aretz)

THE PALESTINIAN CAUSE IS “NO LONGER THE ARABS’ PRIMARY CONCERN: The Palestinian cause is “no longer a top priority” for the Arab world, a Saudi journalist has declared. In an article published by the Saudi daily Al Jazirah newspaper - and translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) - Muhammad Aal Al-Sheikh recently wrote that the reliance of radical Palestinian groups on armed resistance “constitutes a kind of political suicide that only political ignoramuses can condone. The Palestinians need to understand that the Arabs of today are not the Arabs of yesterday, and that the Palestinian cause has lost ground among Arabs. This cause is no longer a top priority for them, because civil wars are literally pulverizing four Arab countries, and because fighting 'Islamic' terrorism is the foremost concern that causes all Arabs, without exception, to lose sleep. It is folly to ask someone to sacrifice his own problems and national interests in order to help you solve your own problems. All I can say to my Palestinian brethren is that stubbornness, contrariness, and betting on the Arab masses are a hopeless effort, and that ultimately you are the only ones who will pay the price of this stubbornness and contrariness.” (Al-Jazirah-Saudi Arabia-MEMRI)

CHRISTIANS THE MOST PERSECUTED GROUP IN WORLD FOR SECOND YEAR: In the past year, the persecution of Christians has not only increased, but it has also spread to more corners of the globe – with incidents occurring on every continent, according to a new report. The advocacy group Open Doors USA recently released the latest edition of its annual World Watch List, which ranks countries based on the treatment of their Christian populations. The group said the increase in incidents considered persecution was alarming and only getting worse. "It is appalling that Open Doors has to report that persecution has increased again in 2016 and we are still at the worst levels of persecution in modern times," said David Curry, president and CEO of Open Doors USA. "The spread of persecution has gotten worse, now hitting nearly every continent in the world. There were 23 Christians recently killed in Mexico specifically because of their faith.” The report comes on the heels of another study by the Center for Studies on New Religions that showed nearly 90,000 Christians were killed for their faith in 2016 and that as many as 600 million were prevented from practicing their faith through intimidation, forced conversions, bodily harm or even death. Open Doors said in its new report that some 215 million Christians around the globe are facing some degree of persecution. WORLD MARKS INTERNATIONAL HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE DAY: Around the world on Friday, 27 January 2017, from the UN to Israel and beyond, communities marked International Holocaust Remembrance Day to remember the 6 million Jews and some 2 million Christians, Gypsies and disabled people who were systematically executed at the hands of the Nazis. The international day marks the liberation of the concentration camps Auschwitz and Birkenau in Poland in 1945. PM Benjamin Netanyahu addressed an international gathering for the event at Yad Vashem Holocaust Memorial Center. “In a few short years, 6 million of our people were wiped away, literally incinerated. And the forces of evil had built an industry of mass murder,” he said. “So, as we remember the victims, and this crime, we must never forget the roots of our greatest disaster – the insatiable hatred for the Jewish people. This hatred culminated in murder, but it began with intolerance.” He warned that the anti-Semitism which drove the Holocaust still exists and is getting stronger in some places. “The Holocaust, thank God, is behind us, but the hatred and intolerance that drove it is not. Anti-Semitism, which is the world’s oldest hatred, is experiencing a revival in the enlightened West, you can see this in European capitals, just unbelievable. Few would have imagined that this would be possible a few years ago.” (Kehila News) Continue to intercede against hatred and violence against Israel and the Jewish people. Include your voice among those who are being heard in large and small groups, prayer meetings, on university campuses and social media networks.

THE HOLOCAUST: The Holocaust, also known as the Shoah, refers to the period from 30 January 1933, when Hitler became Chancellor of Germany, to 8 May 1945 the end of the war in Europe. Millions of Jewish men, women and children were murdered by Hitler and his brutal cohorts during this time. While it is impossible to ascertain the exact number of Jewish victims six million is the round figure. Auschwitz concentration camp was a network of concentration and death camps built and operated by the Third Reich in Polish areas annexed by Nazi Germany during World War II. Buchenwald was a German Nazi concentration camp established near Weimar, Germany, in July 1937, one of the first and largest of the concentration camps on German soil. It was in holes such as these that Jewish victims were starved, tortured, subjected to slave labor, beatings, inhumane medical experiments and murdered in gas chambers by the millions. Elderly Holocaust survivors in Israel suffer mental and physical torments to this day. Their children in many cases bear traumatic scars as a result of being raised by such emotionally and physically shattered parents. (JNN)

“WE REMEMBER”: OVER 200,000 PEOPLE POST THEIR PHOTOS TO COMMEMORATE HOLOCAUST: More than 200,000 people from around the world posted photos of themselves on social media holding signs saying “We Remember” in dozens of languages ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. The social media campaign was launched two weeks ago by the World Jewish Congress in honor of the commemoration, which is marked each year on 27 Jan. the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz. Many Holocaust survivors posted their photos, as well as actors, politicians and world leaders. Among those who have joined the campaign are USA Sen. Chuck Schumer, Albanian Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati and members of the EU Commission. “Anti-Semitism is more prevalent today than it has been at any time since World War II, and bigotry and discrimination still rear their ugly heads all around the world,” World Jewish Congress CEO Robert Singer said in a statement. “This is why we all must declare, together, that we remember. The goal is to reach those who don’t know much about the Holocaust, or who might be susceptible to those who deny it entirely, and to remind the world that such horrors could happen again. Using the tools of social media we hope to engage the next generation, because, soon, it will be their responsibility to tell the story and ensure that humanity never forget.” (JTA) USA HOLOCAUST SURVIVORS’ REQUESTS FOR HELP GROW 20 PERCENT: A group that provides assistance to Holocaust survivors in the United States says requests for assistance grew by 20% in 2016. The Blue Card, making the announcement this week ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day on 27 Jan. 2017, said about one-third of the approximately 100,000 Holocaust survivors in the USA now are living at or below the poverty line, making it difficult to afford proper medical care, mental health care, nutrition and other basic necessities, according to the organization. ‘HUNDREDS, EVEN THOUSANDS OF NAZI WAR CRIMINALS STILL AT LARGE:’ Hundreds or even thousands of Nazi war crimes suspects could still be at large, one of the world's leading experts on the matter said 26 Jan. 2017, ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day. Efraim Zuroff said he expected a spike in convictions in the coming years despite most suspects being in their 90s, but admitted most were unlikely to face justice as many countries are unwilling to pursue cases. Since 2001, 104 Nazis have been convicted over their roles in the Holocaust, in which around six million Jews were systematically exterminated. The annual number has been declining, however, and between April 2015 and March 2016 there was only one conviction, with two new cases filed. Zuroff said he expected the number to increase in coming years, due to “the whole change in German prosecution policy.” In 2011 German legal policy changed to allow prosecutions of those who worked for the Nazis in the death camps, rather than specifically having carried out a killing, allowing for new trials of men and women in their 90s. While he hailed Germany's commitment to prosecuting as many suspects as possible, Zuroff pointed out many other countries including Ukraine, Norway and Sweden have not pursued trials. Zuroff said it was a race against time to convict people before they die. Asked how the world would look back on their attempts to bring Nazis to justice across the world, Zuroff said "there is no question it failed". (Arutz-7)

GERMAN SCHOOLBOOKS FOUND WITH ANTI-SEMITIC IMAGE: A schoolbook publisher has apologized for using an anti-Semitic illustration in a text about the euro crisis and said it will send a substitute page to schools. On 26 Jan. 2017 Berlin-based Klett-Verlag also said it was halting all further deliveries of the book, calling the error “serious.” The substitute page can be pasted in. The book will not be removed from German schools’ bookshelves. Klett-Verlag also told Vice magazine blogger Philipp Frohn that the “regrettable mistake” would be corrected in a future edition, which will not come out for several years. At issue is an image in the firm’s textbook about politics, called “Impulses 2.” It depicts the euro as a Pacman-like chomping mouth about to devour Europe superimposed over a symbol with the words “Rothschild Bank.” The notion that the Jewish banking family is controlling the world for its own selfish purposes “is a classic anti-Semitic conspiracy theory that the Nazis made good use of,” Frohn wrote. “The message to pupils is clear: The driving force behind the whole nasty affair is a bank. A Jewish bank,” he added.

The book credits the notorious American illustrator David Dees, whose work the New York-based Anti-Defamation League called “anti-Semitic and conspiratorial” in a 2008 report. The ADL noted that Dees, on his own website, said he hoped his images would “wake others up about the onslaught of the elite’s power hungry world government plan of domination.” His current illustrations include portrayals of Donald Trump chained around the neck by a golden fob bearing the words “The Fed” and a Star of David; and work suggesting that mass shootings in schools are a Jewish conspiracy against the NRA. Frohn said the publisher reacted with surprise to his questions about how Dees’ illustration ended up in the textbook, which has been used in schools across Germany since 2012. The publisher responded after “internal discussions” to say that “the use of this caricature is in fact a regrettable mistake,” and promising to remove the image from its online version of the chapter “as soon as possible.” But it could take years before a new edition is published, a spokesperson added. (JTA) Meanwhile the blatant anti-Semitic message will continue to fix itself in the minds of hundreds of thousands of young German students as it has since 2012. Likewise Palestinian Authority run-schools and their textbooks continue to teach children to abhor the Jewish state and to promote its destruction. Pray that anti-Israel and anti-Semitic materials placed in school text-books will meet with harsh penalties and not just a slap on the hand.

NETANYAHU: TRUMP UNDERSTANDS THE IRANIAN THREAT: Israel’s PM Netanyahu said 26 Jan. 2017, he was hopeful the election of President Donald Trump would end the world's "deafening silence" on Iranian aggression. Speaking to dozens of diplomats from around the world ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Netanyahu warned that Iranian officials were pushing for the extermination of Jews. "The greatest danger we face, of the hatred of the Jewish people and the Jewish state, comes from the east, from Iran," he said. The country's leaders routinely call "to wipe out every Israeli," he added, "but the international community's response is a deafening silence. I believe it will change because I spoke a few days ago to President Trump and he spoke about the Iranian aggression, he spoke about Iran's commitment to destroy Israel, he spoke about the nature of this nuclear agreement and the danger it poses." Trump opposed the nuclear agreement signed by Israel's arch-foe Iran and world powers, including the United States, in 2015 and has said he wants to scrap it. Also at Thursday's event, Netanyahu told the diplomats there was growing anti-Semitism in Europe. "It is true that governments have shown responsibility, on the whole, in taking this up," he said. "But it is also true that this hatred is bubbling, coming out of the cracks." (Arutz-7)

TRUMP PLANS FUNDING CUT TO UN AGENCIES GRANTING FULL MEMBERSHIP TO PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY: President Donald Trump is working on an executive order to slash all funding to UN agencies that give full membership to the Palestinian Authority or the Palestine Liberation Organization. The executive order also would cut funding to UN agencies or other international bodies that support programs funding abortion, back activity bypassing sanctions against Iran or North Korea, “is controlled or substantially influenced by any state that sponsors terrorism,” or is blamed for systemic human rights violations, media sources reported Wed. 25 Jan. 2017. The draft order also calls for decreasing remaining USA funding to international groups by at least 40%. A second draft order urges a review of current or pending treaties with more than one foreign country in order to obtain recommendations from which agreements the USA should withdraw. During his campaign, Trump called for the USA to pull out of international organizations. Following the passage in Dec. 2016, by the UN Security Council of a resolution slamming Israeli settlements, Trump wrote on Twitter that the international body had become “just a club for people to get together, talk and have a good time.” The resolution passed with the approval of all Security Council member states, except for the USA, which abstained from voting. Trump had called for a veto. (JTA) Iintercede that President Trump’s initiative to cut funding to the anti-Israel biased UN and other international organizations for reasons stated above will be quickly put into action. ISRAEL ENVOY WELCOMES TRUMP PLAN TO DEFUND UN BODIES RECOGNIZING PA MEMBERSHIP: Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Danny Danon said on Wed. 25 Jan. 2017, that he welcomes President Trump’s plan to sign an executive order that would halt all USA funding to UN agencies that recognize the Palestinian Authority or Palestine Liberation Organization as a full member. "The Palestinians continue threaten us with additional unilateral actions and we will continue to battle these attempts,” Danon said. “We welcome any initiative aimed at thwarting these attacks. The international community must make clear to the Palestinians once and for all that the only way to move forward is by them ending terrorism and incitement and returning to direct negotiations,” the ambassador added. The Palestinians enjoy "non-member state" status at the UN, which grants them limited operational freedoms. Trump's consideration of this executive order, titled “Auditing and Reducing USA Funding of International Organizations,” pairs with a Senate effort to legislate similar threats against the UN over its actions targeting Israel. That effort, led by senators Ted Cruz of Texas and Marco Rubio of Florida, gained steam after the Obama administration last month abstained from a Security Council resolution condemning Israel over its settlement enterprise. (J.Post)

TRUMP COULD OVERTURN OBAMA’S LAST MINUTE MOVE TO GIVE $221 MILLION TO PALESTINIANS IN DEFIANCE OF CONGRESS: The State Department is reviewing a last-minute decision by former Secretary of State John Kerry to send $221 million to the Palestinians late last week over the objections of congressional Republicans. The department said 24 Jan. 2017, it would look at the payment and might make adjustments to ensure it comports with the Trump administration's priorities. Kerry formally notified Congress that the State Department would release the money mere hours before Donald Trump took the oath of office. Officials said some of the money has already been transferred but that President Trump's new administration would investigate last minute spending decisions to see if they can be adjusted. Congress had initially approved the Palestinian funding in budget years 2015 and 2016, but at least two GOP lawmakers - Ed Royce of California, the chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Kay Granger of Texas, who sits on the House Appropriations Committee - had placed holds on it over moves the Palestinian Authority had taken to seek membership in international organizations. Granger said on Tuesday, “I am deeply disappointed that President Obama defied congressional oversight and released $221 million to the Palestinian territories.” She added: “I worked to make sure that no American taxpayer dollars would fund the Palestinian Authority unless very strict conditions were met. The Obama Administration's decision to release these funds was inappropriate.” (UK Daily Mail)

TRUMP PLANS IMMIGRATION BAN, SUPPORTS SYRIA SAFE ZONES: After issuing executive orders to build a wall at the USA-Mexico border and to push for greater enforcement against people who entered the country illegally, President Donald Trump is planning to issue another order banning entry to people from a set of Muslim-majority countries. “It’s countries that have tremendous terror, and it’s countries where people are going to come in and cause us tremendous problems,” Trump said in a media interview Wed. 25 Jan. 2017. Those familiar with the draft order say it will include at least a 30-day entry ban for anyone from Iraq, Iran, Libya, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. When asked during the interview about countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan and Saudi Arabia being left off the list, Trump said people from countries not specified in the order will face what he called “extreme vetting.” The ban could also include an exception for people who are religious minorities in their country and facing persecution. The order would also impose a four-month freeze on all refugee admissions into the United States. Trump criticized European countries for their decision to take in the hundreds of thousands of people who have fled there, many because of war, terrorism and political instability in their home countries. He said in some cases people are coming with “evil intentions,” including members of the ISIS terrorist group. “I’m going to be the president of a safe country,” Trump told media sources. He also repeated his advocacy for establishing safe zones in Syria. The idea behind such zones is to have people fleeing other parts of Syria go there instead of seeking refuge outside of the country. It would also involve the potential of increasing the involvement of the USA military to provide protection. (VOA)

ISRAEL ADVISES CITIZENS IN EGYPT’S SINAI TO LEAVE, CITES ATTACK RISK: Israel this week advised its citizens in Egypt's insurgency-hit Sinai peninsula to leave the region, warning of the threat of an imminent attack. Israeli holidaymakers are often warned of the risks they face in Sinai, which borders Israel, but the "Level 1" alert issued by the anti-terrorism directorate is its most severe warning. It described the threat as "very high and concrete”. The directorate warns of the possibility of assaults against tourist sites in the Sinai area in the immediate term," a statement said. An Islamist insurgency in the rugged, thinly populated Sinai has gained pace since the military toppled President Mohamed Morsi of the Muslim Brotherhood, Egypt's oldest Islamist movement, in mid-2013 following mass protests against his rule. Terrorists have launched a number of deadly cross-border attacks on Israel in the past few years and have occasionally fired rockets across the border into the southern Israeli resort city of Eilat. (J.Post)

ORPHANED CHILDREN TO BE PUT UP IN DORMITORIES, ENROLLED INTO ISRAELI EDUCATION SYSTEM: Israel plans to accept child refugees from Syria for the first time, Interior Minister Aryeh Deri announced Wed. 25 Jan. 2017. Deri said he had approved a plan for Israel to accept 100 child orphans from war-ravaged Syria. The orphans will be put up in an Education Ministry dormitories and subsequently enrolled into Israeli schools. It is expected some of them will find adoptive families, the report added. Formally, Israel has declared a policy of nonintervention in the Syrian civil war (given that Israel and Syria are still officially at war); however, Israel has treated over 2,600 Syrian war casualties, both in special field hospitals set up along the border and in Israeli hospitals. Additionally, a directorate for offering humanitarian aid to Syrians has recently been established and Israelis have joined calls around the world to end the bloodshed in Syria, which have grown stronger with reports of atrocities against civilians in Aleppo. More than 310,000 people have been killed since the Syrian conflict began, and over half the population has been displaced, with millions becoming refugees. (i24) Pray for these children who have suffered so much loss and trauma including the death of parents in the ongoing Syrian conflict. May they be comforted, provided for, taken into new families and find Israel to be their much needed land of milk and honey.

ISRAEL SLATED TO BE FOURTH COUNTRY TO LAND VEHICLE ON THE MOON:
Israel is scheduled to become the fourth country to land a spacecraft on the moon, with a launch planned for the end of 2017 by billionaire businessman Elon Musk's SpaceX company. The dishwasher-sized spacecraft was built by the Israeli SpaceIL team for Google's Lunar XPRIZE competition, which aims to promote space technology and interest in the private sector. Thanks to advanced innovation and engineering, the Israeli team was the first to reserve a spot for a space launch out of 33 teams that began the competition. Only five teams remain that have clinched spots on space launches, but all the others are set for after SpaceIL's scheduled launch at the end of 2017. After landing on the moon, the spacecraft is expected to take photos and videos of the moon and broadcast them to Earth. The spacecraft is designed to travel 500 yards across the surface of the moon by hopping, instead of roving like other spacecraft in the competition. If all goes as planned, SpaceIL will meet the conditions of Google's XPRIZE competition and win $20 million. The team plans to use the prize money to promote science in Israel. (Israel Hayom)

RARE STALACTITE, STALAGMITE CAVE DISCOVERED NEAR GALILEE: An unusual ancient stalactite and stalagmite cave, featuring stunning elongated limestone deposits several meters long, was recently discovered in the Galilee region by researchers from the Nature and Parks Authority. According to the researchers, the cave, whose exact location is not being disclosed to the public to avert injuries or tampering, is thousands of years old. Dr. Inon Shivtiel, of the Cave Research Center, noted that stalactites, which hang from the cave’s ceiling like enormous rock icicles, and stalagmites, the deposited formation on the floor, are the result of water that slowly enters the limestone through small cracks. Shivtiel said the researchers will continue to document and map the area to prepare a plan for its conservation. (J.Post)

JNN News Update Jan. 26, 2017

GEORGE SOROS DONATED $90 MILLION TO GROUPS BEHIND D.C. WOMAN’S MARCH: On 21 Jan. 2017, crowds of women crowded the streets of cities around the country to voice their dissatisfaction with newly-inaugurated Donald Trump. In Washington, D.C., the largest of the marches across the country was even bigger than the inauguration crowd the day prior. Like other recent left-leaning demonstrations, the Women’s March described itself as a grassroots effort coordinated by many local leaders. However, a look at its website shows that the march has numerous ties to groups receiving significant financial support from left-leaning philanthropist George Soros. The website for the Women’s March on Washington lists 402 groups as “partners.” Some are groups with longstanding ties to the Democratic Party and liberal causes. Planned Parenthood and the Natural Resources Defense Council were the top two financial sponsors of the event. The Soros family has long supported Planned Parenthood. Last year, George Soros gave Planned Parenthood an additional $1.5 million to help it respond to the release of undercover videos showing the sale of body parts from aborted fetuses. His son donated another $1 million around the same time. His donations to Planned Parenthood since 2000 total more than $20 million. The Women’s March’s other “premier partner,” the Natural Resources Defense Council, states on its website that it receives funding from Soros’ Open Society Foundations. “The George Soros-backed Open Society Institute and Foundation to Support Open Society gave NRDC over $2.2 million since 2008,” the group says. These two groups are merely the most prominent recipients of Soros money. Fifty-six of the groups listed as “partners” of the March have received some financial support from Soros. The prevalence of Soros money at the Women’s March resulted in a protest that, despite its supposed grassroots origins, has alienated many women who are ambivalent about Trump, but do not agree with the liberal focus of the march. “As someone who voted for Trump, I don’t feel welcome, nor do many other women who reject the liberal identity-politics that is the core underpinnings of the march, making white women feel unwelcome, nixing women who oppose abortion and hijacking the agenda,” wrote Asra Nomani, a former Wall Street Journal reporter and self-described “lifelong liberal feminist.“ (Value Walks)

LAST ACT: JEW-HATING OBAMA QUIETLY SENDS $221 MILLI ION TO PALESTINIANS IN HIS FINAL HOURS: The Obama administration in its waning hours quietly released $221 million to the Palestinian Authority that Republican members of Congress had been blocking. Congressional aides said written notification dated 20 Jan. 2017 was sent to Congress just hours before the new president took the oath of office. Reps. Ed Royce (R-Calif.), chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, and Kay Granger (R-Tex.), who sits on the House Appropriations Committee, had placed holds on the Palestinian funding over moves by the PA to seek membership in international organizations. Congressional holds are generally respected by the executive branch but are not legally binding. Obama's parting gift to the Palestinians was seen as a final act of official support for their campaign against Israel, as well as a repudiation of President Donald Trump’s stated Middle East peace policies. (Israel Today/Washington Post) More millions for PA coffers out of which American and other global taxpayers are paying the salaries of Palestinian terrorists serving time in Israel jails for violence and murder– as well as for the hefty monthly stipends to their families.

GLAD TO SEE OBAMA GO, GULF ARABS EXPECT TRUMP TO COUNTER IRAN: Gulf Arab states are quietly applauding the arrival in the White House of a leader opposed to their adversary Iran, even if they suspect Donald Trump's short temper and abrasive Tweets may at times heighten tensions in the combustible Middle East. While many countries around the world listened with concern to his protectionist inaugural address, Gulf Arab officials appear optimistic. They see in Trump a strong president who will shore up Washington's role as their main strategic partner in a region central to USA security and energy interests. In Gulf Arab eyes, that involves above all checking what they see as a surge of Iranian support for paramilitary allies in Syria, Iraq, Yemen and Lebanon and for fellow Shi'ite Muslims in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia's oil-producing Eastern Province.

Saudi Arabia in particular appears relieved at the departure of Barack Obama, who it felt considered Riyadh's alliance with Washington less important than negotiating a deal in 2015 to neutralize Iran's nuclear program. The relationship is a pillar of the Middle East's security balance. But it has suffered since Riyadh took issue with what it saw as Obama's withdrawal from the region, and a perceived inclination towards Iran since the 2011 Arab uprisings. There have been tensions over Syria, where Obama dismissed Gulf Arab urgings to give more aid to rebels fighting President Bashar al-Assad, who has survived thanks to Iranian and Russian backing. "Perception is important: Trump does not look like the kind of guy who will bend towards Iran or anyone else," said Abdulrahman al-Rashed, a veteran Saudi commentator. "If he behaves as he says, then we will see another Ronald Reagan, someone all the forces in the region will take seriously. That's what we have missed in the past eight years." (J.Post)

ISRAEL APPROVES 2,500 NEW SETTLEMENT HOMES: Israel approved the construction of approximately 2,500 homes in Judea & Samaria, most of them in existing settlement blocs, Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman announced on 24 Jan. 2017. The decision came two days after a Jerusalem planning committee approved the construction of 566 housing units in East Jerusalem, and on the heels of a phone conversation over the weekend between Netanyahu and USA President Donald Trump, in which the two discussed their plans for the region. Most of the housing units will be built in the large settlement areas, notably in the city of Ariel and in Givat Ze’ev, outside Jerusalem. But some will also go up in settlements outside the larger blocs, due to prior agreements and court decisions. “We’re building - and will continue to build,” PM Netanyahu said, following the announcement. (Arutz-7) Pray Israel will stand strong in its resolve to provide much needed housing for its citizens and peruse its rights to expand well established and thriving Jewish communities – despite Palestinian and international unmerited disapproval. “For you will spread out to the right and to the left; your descendants will dispossess nations and settle in their desolate cities.” Isa. 54:3

BRUSSELS AIRPORT BOMBERS TARGETED USA AND JEWS: The ISIS suicide bombers who attacked Brussels airport on 22 March 2016, targeted passengers travelling to the USA and also Jewish people. Airport security camera footage shows one bomber apparently pursuing Hasidic Jews seconds before one of the blasts. One of the airport bombers attacked the Delta Airlines check-in at Zaventem airport. "Early on in the investigation there were indications that they targeted USA, Russian and Israeli check-in counters," a USA law enforcement source said. An airport source said a bomb that did not explode was left near the United and El Al counters, which face each other. Mohamed Abrini, a member of the attack team nicknamed the “man in the hat” who was arrested in Brussels on 8 April, 2016 told a Belgian court that one of the original targets in the attacks that killed 32 was the departure area for flights to Tel Aviv. Abrini ran from the scene of the airport attack without detonating his bomb-filled suitcase. “We know they wanted to target Americans. It’s clear they had quite specific targets,” the law-enforcement source told AFP. “We know they were obsessed with the Israelis too,” he added. (AFP)

UNDER COVER OF NIGHT, SYRIAN WOUNDED SEEK HELP FROM ENEMY ISRAEL: It happens nearly every night. After dark, the Syrian wounded come to known locations on the Israel-Syria front in the Golan Heights, driven by desperation to seek help from an enemy army. Israeli soldiers on lookout or patrol spot them waiting by the fence and whisk them away to a rear position where army medics soon arrive, according to army officials operating in the area that was seized by Israel in the 1967 Middle East war. Israel refuses to accept refugees fleeing the nearly six-year conflict in Syria, a country with which it remains technically at war. But it has allowed in more than 2,600 Syrians for medical care. On one bitterly cold January night, gunfire and explosions could be heard in the near distance as Israeli medics dressed the injuries of two Syrian men, one suffering a head wound. "We're doing everything we can to save their lives, to stabilize them and evacuate them to hospital," said Captain Aviad Camisa, deputy chief medical officer of the Golan brigade.

"Some of the stories stir your emotions. When children come, as a father, it touches me personally," Camisa said. Millions have fled and hundreds of thousands have been killed in Syria's conflict, which shows only fitful signs of being resolved. The Israeli army helps facilitate access to nearby hospitals. One man, his legs pierced by shrapnel, survived a bomb attack in his village in which 23 people were killed. "In the past we used to know Israel as our enemy. That's what the regime used to tell us," he said. "When we came to Israel we changed our minds, there is no enmity between us. In the end we discovered that our regime is the enemy of us all," he said, referring to Syrian president Bashar al-Asad. (Reuters)

JNN News Update Jan. 24, 2017

RELIGIOUS MAKEUP OF THE NEW CONGRESS OVERWHELMINGLY CHRISTIAN: The American Congress is about as Christian today as it was in the early 1960s, according to a new analysis by Pew Research Center. Among members of the new, 115th Congress, 91% describe themselves as Christians. This is nearly the same percentage as in the 87th Congress (1961 to 1962, the earliest years for which comparable data are available), when 95% of the members claimed to be Christian. Among the 293 Republicans elected to serve in the new, 115th Congress, all but two identify as Christians; there are two Jewish Republicans – Lee Zeldin of New York and David Kustoff of Tennessee – who both serve in the House.

Democrats in Congress also, overwhelmingly, claim to be Christian (80%), but there is more religious diversity on this side of the aisle. The 242 Democrats in Congress include 28 Jews, three Buddhists, three Hindus, two Muslims and one Unitarian Universalist – as well as the only member of Congress to describe herself as religiously unaffiliated, Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz. Among USA adults who identify with or lean toward the Republican Party, 82% are Christian. (Worthy News) "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” 2 Chron. 7:14

TRUMP CALLS NETANYAHU, INVITES HIM TO WASHINGTON: As expected, one of USA President Donald Trump’s first calls after taking office was to Israel PM Benjamin Netanyahu. The two leaders spoke on Sunday 22 Jan. 2017, about Trump’s intention to break with Obama Administration policy by offering unwavering and unprecedented support to Israel. That support, said Trump, will include facing down Iran together and advancing peace with the Palestinians in a way that protects Israel’s national interests. The call ended with Trump inviting Netanyahu to Washington next month. Two days earlier, the USA Justice Department cleared the way for Trump to appoint his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, as the White House’s new senior adviser on the Israel-Arab peace process. Kusher, who is Jewish, is married to Trump’s eldest daughter, Ivanka, who is herself expected to play a major role in her father’s administration. The Kushner family has in the past donated large sums of money to the Jewish settlement enterprise in Judea and Samaria. In related news, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat on 23 Feb. told Army Radio that he has already had initial conversations with senior USA officials about moving the American embassy back to the Israeli capital. Trump has repeatedly vowed to finally comply with a 1995 congressional act demanding the USA Embassy be returned to Jerusalem. Amid reports regarding progress on the possible relocation of the United States Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to the Israeli capital of Jerusalem, a senior Jerusalem city official claims the Trump administration has already dispatched architects involved in the planning and design of American diplomatic facilities to Israel. (Israel Today)

NEW ISRAEL AMBASSADOR PLANS TO LIVE IN JERUSALEM: David Friedman, who is USA President Donald Trump's pick for Israel Ambassador, is set to arrive in Israel at the end of Feb. 2017 to begin his new job. Irrespective of whether or not the USA Embassy will actually be moved to Jerusalem, Friedman has announced his plan to live and work in Israel's capital city. Friedman owns a large and secured apartment in the Komemiyut neighborhood of Jerusalem. He visits Israel a few times a year. Though Trump promised several times during his election campaign that he would move the USA Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem and many are pressuring him to fulfill his promise, Israel's Foreign Ministry has decided not to play an active role in the matter. According to the Foreign Ministry, Israel should not be seen as a country which pressures Trump to carry out controversial actions. (INN)

TRUMP INAUGURATION RABBI ATTACKED WITH ANTI-SEMITIC HATE SPEECH: The Anti Defamation League said Sunday 22 Jan. 2017 that it was "outraged and saddened by the anti-Semitism leveled at Rabbi Marvin Hier" after the blessing he delivered at the inauguration of USA President Donald Trump. Rabbi Hier is the dean and founder of the Simon Wiesenthal Center, an organization dedicated to fighting anti-Semitism. He was the target of hundreds of anti-Semitic messages posted on social media during and following his recitation, including anti-Semitic caricatures of him and hate speech from white supremacists. “For Jew haters, it was a perfect storm,” the Wiesenthal Center’s associate dean Rabbi Abraham Cooper told media sources Sunday, noting that IT staff working for his center alone had removed hundreds of anti-Semitic messages. “Obviously a lot of people who don’t like Jews had a tough time seeing a Jew stand up proudly before the world,” Cooper said. ”To have a Jew wearing a kippa on an international stage and a declared and well-known Zionist - from the far left to the far right a lot of people were very angry. It’s the world we live in today in which social media allows anyone to make such verbal attacks." Speaking on behalf of Rabbi Hier, who was on a flight Sunday morning, Rabbi Cooper highlighted that, face-to-face, people of all origins, faiths and backgrounds approached Rabbi Hier to thank him and encourage him. “There’s the real world and there’s the virtual world and overall it was quite a moment. It was a very special moment, a very proud moment,” he said. Hier was the first Orthodox rabbi ever to give a benediction at an American president’s inauguration. (Jerusalem Post)

NEW UN CHIEF PLEDGES TO BE ON FRONT LINE OF FIGHT AGAINST ANTI-SEMITISM: Antonio Guterres, the new UN secretary-general, told worshipers at Manhattan’s Park East Synagogue on 21 Feb. 2017, he would be on the front lines of denouncing anti-Semitism and condemning all forms of expressions of it. The Holocaust, Guterres told the congregation, was not simply “due to the insanity of a group of Nazis, but the culmination of two millennia of continued hatred and discrimination against Jews. Anti-Semitism is not a quest about religion, but a manifestation of racism,” the secretary-general stated. He added that he is troubled by the “new forms and expressions” of hatred against Jews, which show that “anti-Semitism is alive and well.” Guterres, who has served as prime minister of Portugal, spoke with regret about his home country’s past actions against Jews, which he said Portugal is working to repair. The UN secretary-general pledged to work so “the Holocaust will never be forgotten.” (INN) Intercede against the rising tide of anti-Semitic verbal and physical attacks against Israel and the Jewish people. “Do not keep silent, O God of my praise! For the mouth of the wicked and the mouth of the deceitful have opened against me; they have spoken against me with a lying tongue. They have also surrounded me with words of hatred, and fought against me without a cause.” Ps. 109:1-3

ANTI-SEMITISM IN GERMANY DOUBLED IN LAST YEAR, REPORT FINDS: The number of reported anti-Semitic attacks in Germany doubled from 2015 to 2016, according to an annual report on anti-Semitism released by the Diaspora Affairs Ministry on 22 Jan. 2017, ahead of International Holocaust Remembrance Day this Friday 27 Jan. While in 2015, there were 194 reported antisemitic incidents reported in Germany between Jan. to Sept., last year that number rose to 461. According to the ministry, this increase is in part due to the refugee crisis and the strengthening of the extreme Right. Britain saw an even more dramatic increase, with 62% more anti-Semitic incidents recorded than the previous year, 75% of them based on political motives affiliated with the extreme Right. Social media continues to be a platform for hate speech, enabling a rise in anti-Semitic expression; according to the report, 40 million users were exposed to anti-Semitic post on Twitter in the month of October 2016 alone. The report also referred to "ongoing anti-Semitic incitement in the Palestinian Authority," accusing it of systematically using religious and antisemitic narratives to foster hatred among Palestinians against Israelis and Jews. JEWS IN NORTH WEST LONDON PELTED WITH EGGS, SWASTIKA-DECORATED BRICK HURLED THROUGH WINDOW DURING SHABBAT: Jews in North West London suffered a spate of attacks over the Sabbath, the UK-based organization the Campaign Against Anti-Semitism (CAA) reported on 22 Jan. 2017. According to the Jewish neighborhood patrol group Shomrim, the first incident occurred at approximately 10:30 pm on Friday 20 Jan. 2017. Recognizably Jewish families walking home from dinners at friends’ houses were pelted with eggs from a moving car on Edgwarebury Lane, Edgware. The second took place at dawn the next day in the same neighborhood. A brick with swastikas and anti-Semitic slurs drawn on it was hurled through the window of a Jewish family’s home. The third, involving swastika graffiti on a residential building on Watford Way, Mill Hill, was discovered a while later. Shomrom London is calling on witnesses to come forward, while the Metropolitan Police Service investigates. The CAA’s latest National Antisemitic Crime Audit revealed that hate crimes against British Jews surged to a new peak last year. (Algemeiner)

‘YOU’RE SHACKLED BY THEOCRATIC TYRANNY’: NETANYAHU REACHES OUT TO IRANIAN CIVILIANS: Acknowledging he has addressed the Iranian leadership countless times, Israeli PM Netanyahu on 21 Jan. 2017 reached out to ordinary Iranians, calling them to break away from the shackles of Islamic authoritarianism via a video message posted to social media. Speaking in English with Persian subtitles, the Israeli leader said people in the Islamic Republic, Israel’s main regional foe, should “want to be able to speak freely, to love who you want without the fear of being tortured or hung from a crane. Tragically, you are shackled by a theocratic tyranny. In a free Iran you will once again be able to flourish without limit. But today, a cruel regime is trying to keep you down. I hope this message reaches every Iranian - young and old, religious and secular, man and woman.” The address came one day after USA President Donald Trump’s inauguration in Washington, D.C.

“I plan to speak soon with President Trump about how to counter the threat of the Iranian regime, which calls for Israel’s destruction,” Netanyahu said. Israel’s prime minister hopes to convince Trump to take a tougher stance on Iran. A senior Israeli official disclosed that Netanyahu had already convened with national security advisers and begun to formulate a plan. While the goal may stop short of killing the multilateral nuclear deal, Netanyahu is expected to tell Trump that the USA needs to take a harder line against Iran’s military program and lead a more concerted global effort to keep the Islamic Republic’s regional aspirations in check, a senior Israeli official said. “The urgent task is to stop Iran from becoming a superpower in the region, something that has been occurring for some time now,” said retired Major General Yaakov Amidror, Netanyahu’s former national security adviser. JNN News Update Jan. 22, 2017

TRUMP: 'WE’LL PUT AMERICA FIRST': Donald Trump was officially sworn in as the 45th President of the United States on Friday 20 Jan 2017. In a speech which followed, Trump promised to put America first, make it great again and fight terrorism. “Today's ceremony has very special meaning, because today we are not merely transferring power from one administration to another or from one party to another, but we are transferring power from Washington, DC, and giving it back to you, the people. January 20, 2017, will be remembered as the day the people became the rulers of this nation again,” Trump said. “The oath of office I take today is an oath of allegiance to all Americans,” he stressed. “From this day forward, it's going to be only America first,” he promised. "We will seek friendship with the nations of the world, but we do so with the understanding that it is the right of all nations to put their own interests first. We do not seek to impose our way of life on anyone, but rather to let it shine as an example for everyone to follow. We will reinforce old alliances and form new ones and reform the world against radical Islamic terrorism, which we will eradicate from the face of the Earth,” promised the new President. At the bedrock of our politics will be a total allegiance to the United States of America and through our loyalty to our country, we will rediscover our loyalty to each other. When you open your heart to patriotism, there is no room for prejudice. The Bible tells us how good and pleasant it is when God's people live together in unity. We must speak our minds openly, debate our disagreements honestly, but always pursue solidarity. When America is united, America is totally unstoppable. Your voice, your hopes, and your dreams will define our American destiny. And your courage, goodness, and love will forever guide us along the way.” (Arutz-7)

RABBI HIER REMEMBERS ZION AND JERUSALEM IN BENEDICTION FOR PRESIDENT TRUMP: Rabbi Marvin Hier, the first Orthodox rabbi ever to give a benediction at an American president's inauguration, quoted Psalm 137 at President Donald Trump's inauguration. "By the rivers of Babylon," he recited. "We wept as we remembered Zion.... If I forget thee, O Jerusalem, may my right hand forget its skill.” Rabbi Hier opened his speech by saying, "Eternal God, bless President Donald J. Trump, and America, our great nation. Guide us to remember the words of the Psalmist: 'Who will dwell on your holy mountain, one who does what is right, and speaks the truth.’ The freedoms we enjoy are not granted in perpetuity, but must be reclaimed by each generation." Hier's benediction continued with scriptural quotations: "As our ancestors have planted for us, so we must plant for others. While it is not for us to complete the tasks, neither are we free to desist from them. Dispense justice for the needy and the orphan, for they have no one but their fellow citizens, and because a nation's wealth is measured by her values and not by her vaults. May the days come soon when ‘justice will dwell in the wilderness,’" he concluded, "’And righteousness will abide in the fertile fields, and the work of righteousness will be peace, quietness, and confidence forever,’ Amen." (J.Post) “So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” Isa 55: 11

ISRAELI OFFICIALS CONGRATULATE TRUMP: Israel's Ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, congratulated USA President Donald Trump on his inauguration. "A true friend of Israel will enter the White House today. Thank you President Trump for your unequivocal support, we look forward to welcoming you to our capital of Jerusalem," said Ambassador Danon. PM Binyamin Netanyahu also passed on good wishes to the new American President. “Congratulations to my friend President Trump. I look forward to working closely with you to make the alliance between Israel and America stronger than ever. Shabbat Shalom,” he wrote on Facebook. Earlier on Friday, opposition leader and Zionist Union chairman Yitzhak Herzog also congratulated Trump. "To incoming President Donald Trump, we here in Israel wish you good luck as you begin your term as President of the United States and leader of the free world. We are convinced that together we will continue to maintain and strengthen the strategic alliance between our two nations, which share common values and interests, led by democracy, equality and the constant strive for peace and security.” (INN)

“OBAMA CAN STILL BE A THORN IN TRUMP’S SIDE’: Caroline Glick, a senior editor at Israeli news portals Maariv and the Jerusalem Post, discussed her expectation that former President Obama will do his utmost to make life difficult for his successor. She said that this is the first time that an outgoing president has declared that he will act in opposition to the next president. "Barack Obama, who represents the American left, says that he is not going anywhere and that he would lead the opposition against Trump. This is something which has never been seen before. Previous outgoing presidents would board Air Force One, wave goodbye, and return to their private lives. Obama and his wife chose to stay in Washington. He declared that he was going to try and put sticks in the wheels of the new administration, and this is a very serious matter. Obama has not accepted the judgment of the voters. There has never been a president who used so much of his strength to bully his enemies. He used the tax authorities in the USA to suppress the opposition, and of course, there is his attitude towards Israel. Under Obama's leadership the Democratic Party has lost a thousand seats in the state legislatures and two-thirds of the governors are Republican. The Republicans also control both houses of Congress. The Democrats have never been this weak," she said. According to Glick, Tump knows how to handle disruptions from Obama. "Trump can deal with Obama. He won't play by the rules of etiquette and can cope better than any other politician with the expected attacks from Obama." (Arutz-7)

SOROS SAYS HE WOULD LIKE TO SEE TRUMP FAIL AS PRESIDENT: Billionaire investor and Democratic donor George Soros said in an interview on 19 Jan. 2017 that "people like me" would like President-elect Donald Trump to fail as president. He made the comment during an interview at his annual media dinner at the World Economic Forum in Davos. “I personally am convinced that he is going to fail,” Soros said. “Not because of people like me who would like him to fail. But because his ideas that guide him are inherently self-contradictory and the contradictions are actually already embodied by his advisers and his cabinet.” Soros came out strongly against Trump during the campaign. He reportedly contributed $7 million to Priorities USA Action and gave Clinton’s campaign the maximum donation. He also contributed $5 million to a super PAC aimed at mobilizing Latinos and other immigrants in hopes to stop the Trump campaign. Soros has a history of contributing millions to liberal political causes. (Fox)

JNN ‘WHO’S WHO’: GEORGE SOROS: George Soros, born 12 August 1930, is an international financier who bankrolled the presidential campaigns of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. He ranked No. 23 in the latest Forbes richest men list, and manages the funds of many other of the world's wealthiest people. Soros is a naturalized American citizen, born in Hungary where he worked for the Nazis as a teenager - looting his fellow Jews. In his autobiography, entitled Soros on Soros, he described how he helped to cart off the stolen possessions of Hungarian Jewish men, women and children after they were rounded up and transported to death camps. He claims it never bothered him a bit, and he has no personal regrets about his actions. Soros said in a 1993 interview with The Independent news portal that he saw himself as “some kind of god, the creator of everything.” Two years later, he portrayed himself as someone who shared numerous attributes with “God in the Old Testament.” (JNN) There is obvious and great need for the God of Israel to intervene in the life of this highly dangerous man with billions to throw around on his chosen political favorites, such as Barack Obama who plans to hang around Washington D.C. to “put sticks in the wheels of the new Trump administration.” Additionally, Soros opposes Israeli government policy and makes no secret of it. Please intercede that George Soros will find his influence and fortunes evaporating when pitted against those who would carry out God’s purposes upon the earth.

LIKUD MINISTER: WE ARE ALL PRAYING FOR SERIOUSNESS AND COURAGE: Israel’s Minister of Infrastructure ,Yuval Steinitz, expressed on 20 Jan. 2017, his “hope and belief” that Donald Trump will stay true to his promise to move the American embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem. “We’re all praying that, aside from the humor and colorfulness, Trump understands the weight of responsibility on his shoulders, and reveals himself to be a serious and courageous president. I hope and believe that he will move the American embassy to Jerusalem.” The previous day, Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat urged Israelis to encourage Trump to move the embassy by expressing their support. Trump said this week he still remains committed to moving the embassy. "Of course I remember what I told you about Jerusalem. And you know I'm not a person who breaks promises.” (INN) Join prayers with Israel’s leaders and citizens that Donald Trump will reveal himself to be a “serious and courageous president,” one who will stay true to his promises to support the Jewish state and to move the American embassy to Jerusalem.

ISLAMIC COUNTRIES CONDEMN PLANNED USA EMBASSY MOVE: The umbrella group Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), representing 57 Muslim countries, on 19 Jan. 2017, condemned the potential USA Embassy move to Jerusalem, discouraging any step that would encourage Israel to "pursue its illegal occupation and annexation of east Jerusalem, including any such support through the transfer of their diplomatic missions to the city," and called on member states to "to take the necessary steps and measures" against such a position. Likewise, the planned move has angered the Palestinian Authority (PA), whose officials want eastern Jerusalem to be the capital of a Palestinian state. (Arutz-7)

JNN News Update Jan. 20, 2017

TRUMP: I DID NOT FORGET JERUSALEM EMBASSY MOVE PLEDGE: Incoming President Donald Trump was asked by Israeli media sources on 17 Jan. 2017, if he intends to go through with his pledge to move the USA Embassy to Jerusalem. "Of course I remember what I said about Jerusalem. You know that I am not a person who breaks promises," Trump responded in remarks published on Thur. 19 Jan. 2017. Likewise, this week, South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, Trump's nominee to be the USA ambassador to the UN, was asked during her confirmation hearing at the Senate Foreign Relations Committee if she supported Trump's campaign promise to move the USA embassy to Jerusalem. "Absolutely," Haley said. "And not only is that what Israel wants, but that is what this Congress supports." (Asharq Al-Awsat-UK/Times of Israel) Pray that Donald Trump will keep his repeatedly published promise to move the USA embassy to Jerusalem. Intercede that he and his administration will grow in their love and respect for- and delight in - Israel and the Jewish people. May the lies that have been perpetrated against the Jewish state be exposed, unraveled, shattered.

IN REBUKE AGAINST OBAMA, JERUSALEM MAYOR URGES ISRAELIS TO SUPPORT TRUMP: In a full-throttled attack against out-going USA President Barack Obama, Jerusalem Mayor NirBarkat on 19 Jan. 2017, released a video statement accusing the outgoing president of “surrendering to the Iranian’s and radical Islam,” as well as “abandoning Israel.” While Barkat has made no secret of his opposition to the Obama Administration’s policies toward Israel, in the brief video he uses perhaps his strongest language to date to condemn the outgoing American president, and beseech all Israelis to support President-elect Donald Trump. The video came hours before Trump’s inauguration date, as the president-elect doubled-down on his promise to relocate the USA Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in multiple interviews with Israeli news publications. “My fellow citizens,” Barkat said during the one-minute clip, “during the last eight years the Obama Administration has pushed for a building settlement freeze. He has surrendered to the Iranians and radical Islam, and has abandoned Israel to a hostile UN resolution.” This week, President Donald Trump enters the White House,” he continued. “Let’s all welcome him together as our friend, thereby conveying a clear message to the world: Jerusalem is Israel’s undivided capital!” (J. Post)

ABBAS THREATENS A ‘DIPLOMATIC RESPONSE’ TO AMERICAN EMBASSY MOVE: Palestinian Authority (PA) chairman Mahmoud Abbas on 18 Jan. 2017 promised a “diplomatic response” if USA President-elect Donald Trump moves the embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. Speaking at a press conference in Bethlehem, Abbas called on Trump not to move the embassy to Jerusalem, warning that there would be a “political and diplomatic” response to such a move. He did not elaborate. The PA chairman said there is a need to establish an international mechanism and a set schedule to realize a comprehensive peace based on the resolutions of international institutions, UN Security Council Resolution 2334 and the two-state solution within the pre-1967 borders. He also claimed that the year 2017 is the last chance to discuss and work towards the implementation of the two-state solution in order to reach a peace agreement with the "Israeli entity". Abbas said this opportunity must not be missed and called on all the countries that have not yet recognized the “state of Palestine” to do so. The PA chairman has in recent weeks warned several times against moving the embassy to Jerusalem. On 17 Jan. 2017 he told Trump that moving the embassy would be a “provocation that would harm the peace process”. Two weeks ago, Abbas wrote Trump a letter in which he warned the President-elect against moving the American embassy, saying that such a move would be crossing a "red line" and could jeopardize peace prospects. (Arutz-7) Upon reading PA leader, Mahmoud Abbas’ ongoing, tiresome rhetoric regarding the dangers to the so called “peace process,” and who is or might be responsible for the collapse of the “two state solution” or what must be done to end “Israel’s occupation,” etc. it can only be said that lies and failed responsibilities writhe and squirm at the feet of the Palestinians and their terrorist loving, Israel hating leaders. In truth, they want Israel destroyed, period, and “peace,” is the last thing on their minds – rather text books that teach Palestinian children to hate and glorify the murder of Jews, no recognition what-so-ever of Israel in text books and maps, the glorification of terrorist murderers as national and religious heroes, and not one, single, baby step towards peaceful co-existence with the Jewish state.

One can only continue to hope and pray that Abbas and the Palestinian people will escape the sewer of deception in which they continue to wallow, and that the rest of the world will stop buying into it as well. In finality, Mr. Abbas, you and those you purportedly lead are the ones to blame for the ruin of the “Peace Process.” It is already dead, not threatened, not endangered, but in the grave. So go do something, anything, worthy of honor and respect with a glimmer of hope for its resurrection! Spend some of the billions that tax payers of the world continue to send to you to build bridges - literally and otherwise - in your relationships with Israel and the nations, rather than paying terrorist salaries and sponsoring hate mongering and murder against God’s beloved people, Israel.

ABBAS POSES WITH PHOTO OF PALESTINIAN TERRORIST WHO MASSACRED 38 ISRAELIS, INCLUDING 13 KIDS: Fatah, the ruling political party of the Palestinian Authority, posted a picture,19 Jan. 2017, on its Facebook page showing President Mahmoud Abbas posing with a child holding a photo of Dalal Mughrabi, a terrorist who led the 1978 Coastal Road massacre that murdered 38 passengers, including 13 children, and wounded 71 others. Mughrabi and 11 other terrorists sailed to Israel from Lebanon, reaching a shore north of TelAviv. Mughrabi personally shot Gail Rubin, an American photojournalist encountered on the beach, before hijacking the Israeli bus. (The Tower)

‘TRUE FRIEND AND LOVER OF ISRAEL’ ELECTED EU PRESIDENT: Antonio Tajani who served in recent years as the deputy and acting president of the European Parliament was chosen on 17 Jan. 2017 to serve as president of the European parliament. 63-year-old Tajani defeated his left-wing rival by a significant margin and will serve for the next 2.5 years in place of Martin Schultz who served the two previous terms. The Conference of European Rabbis welcomed Tajani's election. The head of the Conference, Moscow Chief Rabbi Pinhas Goldschmidt said that Tajani is a "true friend and lover of Israel who has proved in his actions and declarations that he is 'good for the Jews'". In a speech before senior European rabbis and rabbinical judges and leaders of Jewish organizations from 32 European countries, Tajani said the rise in anti-Semitic acts must cause us to lead a determined fight against it and to eradicate it. We in the European Parliament will fight for the right to live on this continent as Jews. "We respect the precepts of your faith and will fight without compromise for this right. The Jews are and were an important part of Europe's history, present and future and we will continue cooperation between the EU and the Conference of European Rabbis and its representatives in foiling anti-Jewish legislation and fighting anti-Smuts," said Tajani. The Conference's representative in the EU, Belgian Chief Rabbi Avraham Gigi said that Tajani will balance the EU's attitude towards Israel as a "true friend of the Jewish nation." Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.” Isa. 60: 2-3

JEWISH CENTERS ACROSS USA FACE NEW WAVE OF BOMB THREATS: On Wed. 18 Jan. 2017, for the second time this month, someone called the Jewish community center outside Wilmington, Del., and said a bomb was on the property. For the second time this month, children were evacuated from schools, gym patrons had their workouts interrupted and police dogs searched the campus. And for the second time this month, it turned out to be part of a frightening hoax targeting Jewish facilities. There were as many as 27 bomb threats on Wed. at Jewish centers in 17 states, according to the J.C.C. Association of North America. Last week, 16 Jewish facilities received bomb threats. No injuries were reported, but nerves were rattled and routines disrupted. Jewish leaders called the threats a sickening sign of the times, but said individual centers had trained to address them. Both Wed. and last week, a national alert system for leaders of Jewish centers was activated as the menacing calls poured in. After the threats last week, Jewish leaders said they had held an online training session with law enforcement officials that included tips on how to respond to bomb threats. (NY Times)

ISRAEL COMPLETES HEIGHTENED EGYPT BORDER FENCE:Israel has finished raising the height of the electronic “smart” fence along part of the border with Egypt to stop infiltration into the country by migrants, the Defense Ministry reported. Construction of the original barrier, equipped with information collection centers and warning systems and known as the Hourglass Project, was completed in 2014 at a height of five meters along 242 kilometers, from the Gaza Strip to Eilat on the Red Sea. The government built the fence in the hope that it would stop illegal migration, drug and weapons trafficking and terrorist infiltration. According to the Defense Ministry, the fence has already slashed the number of illegal African migrants arriving in Israel, with only 213 breaching the barrier in 2015. But the number of successful infiltrations prompted authorities to raise the height from 5 meters to 8 meters along a 17-kilometer stretch. The raising of the fence along with additional detection devices “significantly curbed the flow of illegal infiltration into Israel, with only 11 successful attempts to cross the fence throughout 2016,” it said.
