On December 2nd, I was sitting at my desk in my synagogue office when the news broke about a shooting in San Bernardino, California. I stopped what I was doing and gathered our office staff together for prayer. Afterwards, like most of America and the rest of the world, we listened for more information. Was this the work of a disgruntled employee, or a terrorist attack within the borders of the United States? Fourteen were dead and another 21 injured. The longer the event was covered, the clearer it became that it was Islamic terrorism, complete with pipe bombs and IEDs.

The media began to release the names of the victims. One was Nicholas Thalasinos, age 52, who attended Shiloh Messianic Congregation in Crestline, California.

Most Messianic believers place a great value on higher education and scholarly achievement. Much is happening in the Messianic movement today that is culminating in unusual academic accomplishments. Two examples of groundbreaking achievements are presented in Five Newly Minted Doctors and Seminary Yeshiva Stands the Test of Time.

I wanted to thank The Messianic Times for including Jonathan Roush and myself in the March/April 2013 article on Messianic Jewish worship leaders. I thought the whole Messianic Times team did an excellent job at capturing the ethos of what we do at Beth Messiah. Yahnatan Lasko

This March/April edition exhibits an international flair, which includes news from Cuba, Israel and France as well as major American cities.

Ever since the Cuban Missile Crisis, relations with Cuba have been challenging. Who would have thought that one day an assortment of Messianic Jewish musicians would be invited to this communist country and “wow” a warm, receptive audience? (With Fidel Castro’s blessings!) Read all about this heartwarming and uplifting story in A Great Milagro Happened There.

And who would have imagined that a nice Jewish boy would be the keynote speaker at President Obama’s Inaugural Prayer Breakfast? Catch this amazing account on Jonathan Cahn on page one.

From beginning to end, each issue of The Messianic Times keeps me informed and lets me know what’s happening in our faith community. Furthermore, as an author, I was delighted to discover how simple it was to advertise.

Having written a column for a local newspaper and having written an article for The Messianic Times, I know how diligently each person involved in the reporting process as well as those behind the scenes labors to make sure that readers/ writers/advertisers and our mishpachah receive what is good and profitable.

As a member of Messianic Congregation Ben David in Santa Ana, California, I especially liked the article about my Messianic rabbi, Doug Friedman, that appeared on page 16 in the September/ October 2012 issue.

On behalf of the community and myself, I would like to express my thanks for the beautiful article you wrote in the September/October 2012 issue of The Messianic Times (page 7). It has been a wonderful experience to find Messianic brothers elsewhere united in one spirit, exalting the name of Yeshua. To all who made this article possible, a thousand blessings. May the Lord bless the team at The Messianic Times. Please know that you have good friends here in Bogotá, Colombia. In the love of Yeshua,

Please share this letter with Stan Levy, who thinks that Obama is “doing a decent job.” Levy is the Californian transplant from Brooklyn who was interviewed by Doug Patton, who wrote “Obama and the Jewish Vote” (Page 1 and continued on page 13) in the September/October edition of The Messianic Times.

When will the Jewish population wise up, especially those who believe in Yeshua, and start adhering to the Biblical world view? If the Sunday-observing believers, Messianic Jews, and traditional Jews—be they secular or religious—would at least live the Torah response, this country would be a certified Judeo-Christian nation in one national election.

Have you ever been traveling abroad while a national holiday was celebrated back home? Americans who live in Israel know exactly how this feels. Trying to recreate the joy, fellowship and food experiences that characterize a traditional Thanksgiving can be a challenge. Thanksgiving: Israeli Style will show you just how far expatriates will go to honor this beloved occasion.

A friend of mine, who works for a popular national magazine, once told me that her editorial staff starts planning their December holiday issue in early August. She mentioned how challenging it is for them to talk about winter fashion, festive dishes and desserts while meeting in the sweltering board room. I know how they feel.

We call The Messianic Times’ September/October edition our “fall” issue, yet just outside my window, I can see flowers, shrubs and plants turning brown from the relentless 100 plus degree weather.

Not too long ago, it became a standard procedure to use the Internet to order everything from pizza to sweaters to Nike shoes. Today, online education has not only caught up—it’s taking over. Classes and courses abound on the Web. YouTube has practically replaced the classroom. It’s getting to the point where you no longer have to leave your home for a service, sermon or a teaching.

Here at The Messianic Times, each month we see more ministries and news agencies becoming computer accessible. The future isn’t on the horizon, it’s here. The Messianic Daily News column elaborates on this technological phenomenon.

Thank you for the article about Esther Rosenberg [The Messianic Times, May/June 2012]. She’s a very special lady. Having attended Temple Beth Emanuel, I can still hear her wonderful testimony of how she got saved and healed. I became a believer in New Mexico, then came to Beth Emanuel as an ex-hippie and a relatively new believer. Esther and her husband Moses were used by the Lord to ground me in Messianic Judaism. Such a lovely Jewish couple—on fire for the Lord, gentle and kind. They served as a beautiful example of what I wanted to become in Him. There were a number of people at Beth Emanuel that had a great impact on my life as a Jew who believes in Messiah—but none more than the Rosenbergs. Esther looked great in the recent photograph. Thanks for the wonderful memories.

The latest [May/June 2012] edition of The Messianic Times was my favorite for as far back as I can remember! Everything came together with incredibly good content. I really appreciate the great testimonies, such as Sid Roth, and the report on “Christ at the Checkpoint.” Also, kudos for the handling of Eric Tokajer, the new guy on the website. The Messianic Times is a powerful evangelistic tool, even in the prisons. These testimonies are very positive and powerful. Keep up the stories of the pillars of the community!
